TV Serieseseses

Ah crap, I read the second spoiler on Moosh's post not realising it was about S2.

Oh well, I've had the series sitting around for a few weeks now and haven't watched it so I guess I'm not too worried!

I'm currently catching up on Arrow. I think the actress who plays the ex girlfriend/lawyer looks a bit weird. Her face has gotten really skinny since the first season. I wonder if she is sick/anorexic/druggie but she doesn't look very healthy to me ... maybe she's just getting older?
-

Funnily enough Nepia, my missus said exactly the same thing about her in regard to her appearance/health etc, saying she used to be stunning but now less so...obviously I had no opinion on the matter ;)

That said, she is still way hotter than her sister!
-

and they can both leave the bed for the lovely Ms Smoak....
-

Nah, I think the sister is hotter now, if not really hot, just in comparison.

She's the nicest of the regular cast but some of the guest actresses have been hotter - the mobster's daughter, the Indian cop, and the girlfriend of the sister.
-

An old kiwi comedy (2005) that I never knew existed - Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby

Not a series that'll force you to drop everything but for all the 30 years of age plus expats that've been away from home for a long time, this was a refreshing reminder of kiwi comedy and satire.

David McPhail (legend growing up in the 80's) is simply superb with his anti pc honesty. Made me laugh out loud quite a lot.

Part comedy, part nostalgia, part good acting, but worth a look if you've been away for a while and some classic kiwi pisstaking.

BTW, if you get offended by any of the material then you are either too young and I pity you, or you're a frikkin knob

2nd series better than the first iMHO
-
Watched three episodes of Gormsby , macPhail is great but the sleazy guidance steals the show for mine.

Sleazy guidance counciller - I worked on the script for the piano

Gormsby- the piano , excellent movie it's about a mute but starts off with a VoiceOver from her -

First episode of Silicon Valley was good. TJ Miller was funny. That is all.

I'm 3 episodes in and I've found it, and him, to be the reverse of how Rusty did. Miller has just gotten annoying as it has gone on. He's best used in small doses, unfortunately they don't use him well.

I'm a bit bemused by the love for this show around the blogs/reviews. I think it's an ok show, but not hugely funny.

Siam: I used to watch Gormsby back in the day on actual broadcast TV - seems a lifetime ago now.
-

A lot of those people probably worked at new media startups. -

Possibly, some of them are just stock standard old school TV critics though. TBF, I find myself bemused at a lot of what people find 'cool' these days. :)
-

Season 8 of 24 in a week. not bad for someone with a fulltime job and 2 young kids. Had a good ending, not sure why they felt the need to make another one to be honest.

I don't think that the show is positioned as being "cool". -

Thanks for this. I had a physics teacher that could have been Gormsby. I had not heard of this and am enjoying it a lot.
-

Mad Men Season 7, is shit, that is all...........

Mind you I have invested so much time in it I will watch it to the end. Yes, I do have a sad life, living vicariously through my TV heroes.

I'm really enjoying S7, some episodes have been the best comedies of the year and grumpy Peggy has been great to watch. I'm liking it more than any current show I'm watching including Game of Thrones.

But then I never loved Mad Men off the bat, it only really started getting good for me nearing the end of S3, so maybe these episodes are more to my taste?
-

I thought that season 6 of Mad Men was garbage (with a shit-ton of filler), but I hope that season 7 is better.

The guy who played Peter Gregory on Silicon Valley died in December (he was also Grant in Rubicon!). Fucking lung cancer. :(
-

I really liked S6 as well, so you may want to temper your expectations as it appears we're on opposite worlds at the moment. :)
