Sympathy for the Devil would be in my top 2 with Gimme Shelter.
I did see the Rolling Stones on the A Bigger Bang tour in 2006 as I fully expected some of them to be dead by now! Well not, Keith.
I saw them in 1995 , They looked pretty old then . Bill Wyman had stayed home to shag pre teens and Muzzle Skillings from living colour was on bass.
It was Doug Wimbesh wasn't it?
Either way a far better bassist than they deserved.

Skillings was the original bass player

@jegga what. the. fuck. Acca Dacca compared to Nickelback!!? Dude that is out there, even for the fern.
It wasn’t that long ago a lot of critics and a lot of people hated AC/DC but they used to play to huge crowds . For a band so widely despised Nickleback are very successful .

Yeah he was but Wimbesh played with the Stones.
Speaking of which Living Colour are coming to Wellington and playing.....at San Fran. For a group that did have quite a few pretty huge songs that is a massive fall from grace. Whats the point in coming all this way to play for a few hundred people at best? My band played there for fucks sake.

I've heard one song. It's quite shit.

Quite possibly the most beautiful song Lou ever recorded. (The super-delicious guitar work is by Bob Kulick who was the uncredited guitarist on most Kiss records from their glory years.)
You know, man, when I was a young man in high school
You believe it or not, that I wanted to play football for the coach
And all those older guys
They said that he was mean and cruel but you know
I wanted to play football, for the coach
They said I was a little too lightweight to play linebacker and so I'm playing right-end
Wanted to play football for the coach
'Cause, you know some day, man you gotta stand up straight unless you're gonna fall
Then you're going to die
And the straightest dude I ever knew was standing right for me, all the time
So I had to play football for the coach
And I wanted to play football for the coach -
@salacious-crumb Until he started singing...

@salacious-crumb Of course I have.
Let's just say that the singing from the likes of Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and Neil Young, to name 3 artists, is an acquired taste.

Bob Dylans voice has grown on me over the years, Neil Youngs voice has had the opposite effect.

All three are great. So are Jimi Hendrix and Leonard Cohen. If you’ve never heard Charlie Parker, or god forbid Ornette Coleman, they’re acquired tastes, too.

Vocals are very important to me in forming an opinion on the music I like and listen to. For that reason there are certain types of music I have never been interested in.
You could have the best musicians in the world but a shitty singer and I'll switch off.
All very subjective, of course.

I'm imagining when Bob finallly pops his clogs that the wank Facebook posts will be nauseating, just as they were when the equally bad Lou Reed died.
I think he's a fucken terrible artist and cannot for the life of me see why anyone would like him.
I do like Neil Young though, he's done some genuine bangers.

Dylan was at least very influential, Lou Reed ? Yeah nah .
