Watched the pilot of [i]Halt and Catch Fire[/i]. Quite an interesting story but a "mixed" episode at best. May be fatally flawed by having a "kickass chick" as a central character.

I'm not really watching the new version as re-living the original. I found the narration worked very well in the British one. It highlighted the megalomania of the main protagonist. You also couldn't escape that it was a commentary on the Thatcher Reich and the open power play that it signified. The fact that everyone was venal was part of the attraction. I'm enjoying HoC thus far but the original was unmissable and the GoT of the day

I think house of cards and to play the king, the original Francis Urquhart was far better than spacey . I lost interest in the US one, see if you can get ahold of the original . I do like the fact that both character initials are FU

Watched the Mini-series Klondike, which is supposedly based on true events. Was pretty good, bit tamer than Deadwood but set in the pretty much lawless wild North(west) Had Rob Stark as the main lead, an often unflattering Abbie Cornish as the lead female, Tim Roth playing, well, Tim Roth, but a nasty Tim Roth, ex-Shortland Streeter Martin Csokas.
 
But man life woulda been tough back in those days, trying to find a bit of gold, only for people to try and kill you for it, if the weather didn't get you first! Just rock on up to a spot, and claim it, sweet, I now own this piece of land, start digging a hole!

Not a series that'll force you to drop everything but for all the 30 years of age plus expats that've been away from home for a long time, this was a refreshing reminder of kiwi comedy and satire. 
 
David McPhail (legend growing up in the 80's) is simply superb with his anti pc honesty. Made me laugh out loud quite a lot. 
 
Part comedy, part nostalgia, part good acting, but worth a look if you've been away for a while and some classic kiwi pisstaking. 
 
BTW, if you get offended by any of the material then you are either too young and I pity you, or you're a frikkin knob

Enjoying Orphan Black season 2 for different reasons to season 1.
 
Season 1 was great on the back of Maslany showcasing her ability and the setting up of the story premise. Now that Maslany's acting is taken for granted and the clone story could get complicated just for the sake of drawing it out, the producers have IMO been very clever in tweaking the show to include some fun scenes along the way.
 
Sarah and Helena taking a road trip and singing badly in the car was a brilliant scene. The re-introduction of Vic the dick and the whole Maslany acting as Sarah pretending to be Alison was mind boggling but hilarious at the same time.
 
This swinging from light to dark (with Donny in the final scene) is keeping the show as a really interesting watch irrespective of the storyline.

I'd really like to go out drinking with Helena, she'd be a whole world of fun. Basically like going to crufts with a honey badger.
 
Also a massive fan of the wardrobe department making all the clone variants sleep in T-shirt that are not quite long enough.

Finished S2 of Banshee...after a slowish start, thought it got going well and enjoyed it.
 
[spoiler]The dynamic of the relationship between Kai and Rebecca is becoming a bit disturbing....she is one farked up chick!
 
I reckon the writers from Banshee should get in touch with the GOT folk about getting the Mountain over to scrap it out with that big Indian dude! Have to assume the whole Amish/Indian thing will be a focal point of the next season, not to mention Kai wanting revenge on Lucas. So Kai will be very busy....
 
Glad they got rid of Rabbit, sometimes those underlying storylines get dragged out too long.
 
Liked that final scene when Jobe & Fat Al saved the day, taking the p!ss out of him wanting to take on all those dude with machines guns and him with a knife.

I've finally got round to watching House of Cards S2. Man, it's a great improvement over S1. I'm actually churning through it because I want to watch the episodes and not because it's a notable show. One thing really helps.
 
[spoiler] Getting rid of Zoe the reporter really early on, I just couldn't stand her character, most times I just wanted to slap her. [/spoiler]
 
It seems to be more a 'political' series this season than the first one was which is what I prefer.

This would explain his openness to â€œlong-formâ€ TV adaptations of his films To Live And Die In L.A. and Killer Joe; Friedkin says both are currently being developed for TV, and although neither will follow the same storyline as the films theyâ€re based on, each will retain the â€œvibeâ€ of the original. 
As for his personal involvement, Friedkin says he may direct the pilot for To Live And Die In L.A., but only if he likes the script. Been watching topp country which is great when they are meeting people , cooking and travelling around nz .......Then they do camp mother or the two kens and it's excruciatingly painful , Aaron Ralston would watch it and would look back on hacking off his own arm as pleasant way to spend an afternoon in comparison . It makes Rhys Darby looks sophisticated. 
Please for the love of god make them stop, it makes an otherwise fairly entertaining show suck.

So I finally got round to watching the first series of The Waking Dead. Only 6 episodes so was a quick an easy watch. Quite good if not brilliant, so I'm looking forward to S2. 
 
[spoiler] Ok, some things that annoy me:
1. Why do they set out in convoy with one person in a couple of cars? What a stupid waste of petrol.
2. Why, when they were on one of their forays into the city didn't they head to a sporting goods store and get a bunch of crossbows as they're best for dealing with the zombies due to the lack of noise?
3. All the women on the show annoy me. I don't know if it's because they're unattractive of if they're just badly written ... at least if they were attractive they'd be nice to look at.
4. I thought that they would have killed the guy who had the fever just before they drove off, after all they're just leaving him to turn into a zombie that will attack people. [/spoiler]
