DNA Dreaming

Chinese biotech company, BGI, persues genomic analysis of intelligence by sequencing many high IQ subjects. Conversations between scientific advisers are revealing and amusing. Sadly, there was no mention of "mate fitness".

The full documentary is on youtube.

Guardians of the galaxy, very funny(check out the references to footloose, john stamos etc ) with a cool soundtrack..
A raccoon using a machine is memory I will treasure.
Zoe Saldana still manages to look hot even when she's green.

Felt like I was watching Firefly, can't give it higher praise. Good, fun comic book movie.

Good call, Chris Pratt was perfect for that role, the wrestler was pretty good too I thought .
The only possible way it could have been improved was if it was a honey badger instead of a raccoon , honey badgers don't need guns though.

If you like firefly you'll enjoy this , I like the little things they did like how awful they made the usual slo mo walk of the heroes down the corridor as they go off to save the day.
Zoe Saldana must be a contender for hottest sci fi chick ever.

Bloody hell TR, you haven't seen Firefly? The Wire, Firefly ... walks away shaking his head.

Firefly has been airing on Maori TV for the last couple of months - they only have an episode to go.

I still have The Wire ready to go, just need to find the time to try again...TBH, I think the first time I heard of Firefly it was on TBBT, I didnt watch alot of TV series (aside from endless Simpsons re-runs) when I was in the UK, which was when this aired.

Yes to both. Only time I've asked him to pass on a message (such a fanboy).

Fillion is one of those guys that pops up in all sorts if things and you don't realise it was him. Outside if sci fi, I thought he was great in The Waitress.

As for Firefly, worth watching and then seeing the movie Serenity. He's basically Han Solo in a more literal space western.

I first recognised him as the evil priest on Buffy (oddly enough that series of Buffy was the only one I have seen as my flatmate watched it religiously, apart form a few first season episodes) so when I saw him on Firefly it was a revelation.

TR: Remember to watch The Wire as a period peace so the old tech doesn't annoy you so much. ;)

Finally saw Reacher. Good movie with Cruise pulling off the "give no fucks" world weary guy. Thought his monologue about "freedom" in the lawyer's office was a good piece of writing. Rosamund Pike's cleavages provided excellent supporting cast even if her eyes are a little weird. Favourite moment has to be Robert Duvall driving the dump truck, laughing and saying "suck it!"

I see some clips are doing the rounds of a younger Jason Statham (with hair) competing in Diving at the Commonwealth Games in Auckland.

I won't bother posting them they are easy to find and boring.

Let's just say he's likely a better actor than diver :)
