Under the skin.

What you'll tell the mrs when you bring home the DVD "it's a dark sci fi thriller, it did very well at Cannes ."

What you'll tell your mates " holy shit, Scarlett Johanson plays this alien chick and stands in front of a mirror checking her naked body out for about two minutes. The scene is shot from behind her so you see her butt at the same time. "

Couple of movies the last few days:

Ironclad - story about the siege of Rochester castle during the reign of King John (The Asshole) after the Magna Carta was signed. Not too much to recommend this, though I thought Paul Giamatti was a pretty good King John. Direction and editing was disjointed, and besides the gratuitous violence it was two hours of just waiting for tits. Thought I was watching GoT.

Horrible Bosses. Fuck this is a good comedy. Jennifer Aniston's best role ever, mainly because she's a dirtay biatch and hops into the skimpy gear. Besides that Jason Bateman and his mates really carry this through with Spacey.

From what Steven Ambrose said in citizen soldiers the part about never having seen a tank before is true, in the book the US starting dragging troops up to the front line who had no real training. One tank commander got sent 4 replacements and the only one who could drive only drove the family to church on sunday, they drove about half a mile and he rolled the tank into a ditch.

Stephen Ambrose is not really a good guide to factual stuff that happened, he writes great page turning books that get people interested in what happened, but he's not known to let facts get in the way of a good read nor his target audience.

You're probably right, seems an off story to invent though. A lot of the soldiers they dragged in were from places like anti aircraft crews which were redundant due to them having near total air superiority. He's a huge Eisenhower fanboy but he's really harsh on him for the lack of training the yanks gave their men from about november 1944 onwards.

Menahem Golan, of the Cannon Group and Golan/Globus, died today at 85. He was one of the guys who made the 80's great.

http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/aug/09/menahem-golan-successful-independent-producer-dies-aged-85

Cuban Fury: Salsa dancing movie with Nick Frost (the fat fulla in the Simon Pegg films) and Rashida Jones. I found it funny and Jones was stunning, she has always been hot but they always give her a stupid fringe on Parks and Rec. A good light film.

Calvary: Not as good as The Guard, but still good nonetheless. About a priest who is told he's going to be murdered in a week and then has a story that follows that week in the whacky little Irish village he lives in. It could be a sequel to The Guard really.

I've always found this guy really funny and Pegg nothing but irritating. Not in a funny way either, just really fucking irritating . Rashida Jones is hot though, I'll check this movie out.

Just so we're clear there is no Pegg in this film though?

I was trying to convince my wife to bring my son (he's seven). Instead, I'm waiting to buy it on DVD and I have to edit out some of the non-kid friendly bits. Sigh.

What kind of non kid friendly bits? Although my nieces are teenagers so that wont matter. Is it a PG or M rating?

M, but nothing that a teenager would be worried about. Bit of swearing, some Groot OTT impaling of faceless bad guys. All very cartoonish.

I think my favorite thing about Golan and Globus was how, after they split, they released two different films exploitating the Lambada dance craze ON THE SAME DAY. PS Golan's Lambada film was WAY better, since "The Forbidden Dance" features Sid Haig as a Brazilian witch doctor (!!), a safe sex message, and an ending that features a message about the plight of the rain forest.
