That was a fucking amazing session from Kane and Nicholls. Game on motherfuckers.

Effectively 125/4 - that's pretty close to even-stevens in my book. Wonder who's more tired - our batsmen or their bowlers?!!

Doull trying to claim NZ pitches are green so hard to bat in the first innings, and easier on days 4/5. Absolute nonsense, NZ hasn't been producing green seamers like in his day for a long time now. Not to mention the immense pressure that comes with batting last.

You can't overstate how good that record is.

Whatever the reason is - playing at home Little Kane averages 44.26 in the first innings and 76.66 in the second.

Away from home he's 51.31 in the first and just 36.82 in the second.

He's had some big unbeaten second innings' on some of those NZ roads. 🙂

@Chris-B I'll thank you to leave stats like that out of this thread, my feelings don't care about your facts.

Lead over 150 with 6 wickets in hand. Off to bed. Whatever happens, Kane is a dead set fucking legend.

Safraz has gone on the defensive.

He's not taking the hard new ball - he's using Yassar Shah to bowl wide of leg stump and make Kane kick it away - slowing the scoring rate.

    Already looking for a draw?

@chris-b seems premature to rule out us collapsing if either of these guys go. All it'd take is to open up one end. But if our tail got another 50+ on to of our 166 that's getting tough.
I'm thinking we need 250+, but that's looking viable at the moment.

So how do we play this?

Keep batting and ensure a draw?

Get Hank through to 3 figures asap and then go nuts?

Fall in a heap and try and defend 180 in a day?

I'm liking option 2. Nudge along a bit and set them a challenging total.

Don't think we'll pull out tonight.

But nudge along. If we lose a wicket give ColDGH licence to go.

We'd have to lose 6 for 30 to be under real threat I reckon.

170 to win from here. 3 sessions and half an hour left...

    It's damn tight right now.

    'Av a go ya mugs!

4 down at stumps. Amazing effort after we were 60/4.

Williamson and Nicholls finally come up big for the upper middle order on tour. Hopefully Kane can get his 150 and Nicholls past 100. We have gone a long way to taking the game away from Pakistan after only losing 2 wickets today, one of which was the night watchman. Gotta love test cricket

I'll be truthful and say I wasn't expecting that scorecard when I heard it on the news this morning. Well done Kane and Nicholls.

I said earlier in the thread that we'd need to bat for 4 sessions to make the test safe, so 3/4 the way there. If all goes well I'd bat until lunch or maybe have a couple of overs to bowl at them before the break. Looking forward to watching more of the test tonight.

A very good days cricket for us.

I think we will look to play them out of the test and secure a draw before declaring.

Don't think Kane will declare with a gettable total on the board like Bmac would have.

    Better than 9 for 40..

And even if we do now I reckon we're safe.

Currently 199 to win at 2.2 rpo.

Get Hank to his ton, add a few more and we'll be looing at defending 240-250 at 3s.

I went to bed quite early and had two or three dreams that I checked the score and we were only 4 down and I was getting happier and happier and then I woke up and was gutted to realise it was a dream.

Checked my phone and saw we were only 4 down! Could not believe it.

Felt like a Soothsayer for a moment!

(On a weird coincidence the other night I dreamt they were going to abandon a highway upgrade and then yesterday they cancelled the upgrade from Cambridge heading south)

Wow - that's even wilder than the dream I had about mowing my lawn, where I mowed my lawn.

That one's coming true as well! 🙂
