Now, I am aware of what I said regarding The Apology but today my feeling on the "Grieving NZers" and "Your pain is our shame" is one of, well, embarrassment.
The level of outrage and number of people publicly grieving for an outsider is frankly almost vomit inducing. Not because this poor girl is not worth it. But because our own people are too.The next time a native baby is killed or a native woman is raped I 100% know this public spectacle and vigil will not fucken happen.
And NZ media you need to just stop fucken now with this "shame" & "grieving" bullshit.

Cynical question: do these vigils happen if we remove social media? Would so many be attending if they couldn't narcissistically post about it online?
Any of you old buggers remember anything like this happening before? The reaction seems way OTT given we never get vigils for, say, the innocent children that are regularly killed in domestic violence incidents.

Missed any previous version so I'll take you seriously, and quote you so others can read your edited post.
Short answer no, I can't remember anything like this in NZ.
I think there is a fair amount of "people in other countries will blame us, and by association me, ME!, beacuse New Zealand, and therefore I must show that I personally am not to blame to ensure that people on the other side of the world don't think badly of ME!".
Much like the Jill Meagher hysteria in Melbourne a few years ago.
