Similar to other shows from Jed Mercurio. Makes things over complicated and dragged out through the middle then to have an overly fast wrap up.
Very similar to each of the Line of Duty series.

I haven't seen anything else from him. I found Luther (S1 and S2) much more satisfying to watch if I compare Bodyguard to another UK thriller TV series.

Might as well start listing 2019 shows to keep an eye out for...

    GoT - obvious
Baptiste - the detective from 'The Missing' gets his own (unrelated) show. Series is set in Amsterdam. Was a great character so looking forward to this.
This Time With Alan Partridge - a welcome return
What we do in the Shadows - a TV version

Plenty of old favourites as well - Luther, Happy Valley, Taboo, True Detective, Killing Eve, Line of Duty

Started watching the Haunting of Hill House on Netflix, 4 eps in and really like it.

Plenty of hair up on the back of the neck moments in every episode so far, storyline is good too, if not a little jumpy until you work out what is going on. Acting of the kids in particular is very good.

Is a bout a family who lived in this creepy as hugearse old house...as you have guessed, haunted. But the real story is the lives of the family after they have moved out and as you learn some of what went on in the house that has shaped them into adults.

I'll probably get through the next 6 eps over the next few days.

@taniwharugby I've heard good things about it, and it's on my list to watch. Getting through S5 of Vikings now that Netflix has it.

@bovidae When you say its on Netflix, I dont think that is up to date with whats airing in the US though is it?

On my Netflix it is only showing the eps that were shown earlier this year, not S5.E11 or whatever started last month...?

That said, I am undecided as to whether to start it yet or wait until I can binge 🤔

@taniwharugby Yes, S5 Pt 1. That was only available through Lightbox.

@bovidae ah ok, yeah I have obtained the first few eps (Eps11 onwards) but not watched.

End of S5E10 leaves you hanging (was back in Marchish I think?)...plus I see the odd post on FB and IG about the current series which made me think I should just watch it haha.

That's a danger these days - this very thread has spoiled stuff for me on occasion.

Oddly enough since I finally gave up on The Walking Dead I haven't been spoiled once about it.

@taniwharugby yeah it's good, I'm not a huge fan of supernatural type stuff like that but it gives ya good spooks and I really liked it. Plus Carla Gugino.

@bones I Like a good horror, and TBH most movies/series try too hard these days with CGI, but this one is limited and relies on tension, glimpses and the actors.

Acceptable Risk. Irish series kicking off with a bloke mysteriously getting murdered in Montreal and the aftermath.

Yeah, nah, definitely don't bother. Seemingly started off well and had a good premise but then got fucken worse and worse, was just hanging in there at the end to see what happened but it was painful. Pretty awful writing and acting.

    Finished Haunting of Hill House.

Thought it was good, although like many series I think they struggled with the ending, sure they tied up the loose ends but it was almost like they had a checklist of what they needed to finish off.

Was some good acting and characters, particularly the kids, Katie Siegel and Victoria Pedretti were tidy.

I know I am late to the party on this one, but I have two episodes to go with Lost in Space. I fucking hate Dr Smith, to the point where I feel like ditching the show completely. The character ruins it for me.

    Dark Tourist

As if we need more evidence of how fucked up the world is!!

Great series, while there were some mental sites Farrier visited (not all strictly tourist sites) reckon the Yanks with thier almost worship of Manson, Dahmer and tours on the JFK Assassination take it the fucked up tourist award...although selfies with the mummified Grandmother was on another level.

I gave 'The Fix' a go. It's a new game show hosted by Jimmy Car and 4 American comedians.

Started off well though it did feel a little scripted, by the second episode it degenerated entirely into:

    Social justice good.
    Orange man bad.
    Open borders great.
    White people bad.
    ...and so forth

The propaganda couldn't be any more thinly veiled.

    Let's see...

The Innocent Man - Netflix doco series representation of John Grisham's only non fiction book, about some dodgy convictions in Ada, USA. Really good actually, interesting stuff.

Murder Mountain - Netflix doco series about Humboldt County and the goings on there with the rise of Cannabis production. Really good again.

The ABC Murders - Malkovich stars as Poirot. Another good watch, keeps ya guessing.

La Mante - French series on Netflix about a son being reunited with his imprisoned mother when a copycat pops up recreating her murderous rampage from 25 years earlier. Probably the best of the lot, highly recommend.

Just started Escape at Dannemora. Looking promising. Benicio del Toro stars alongside Patty Arquette.

Also been watching some Brokenwood Mysteries. It's neat eh! Or am I just being nostalgic?

@Tim yeah... Seems to be a bit lacking in detail in certain areas so can be a bit frustrating but definitely worth a watch.
