The champagne-beer-shiraz-scotch transition happening seamlessly and without apparent planning.
Just opened a bottle of Dad's Glenfiddich that's been in his grog cabinet probably longer than I've been alive. Dad passed away 16 years ago, Mum in October. Why keep stuff like that bottled up for a special occasion, when perhaps the special occasion doesn't come? What's more special than remembering your Mum at Christmas?
Or celebrating the fact your daughter asks to watch Die Hard?
Happy.
BTW the scotch is goooorgeous.

Boxing day as you would expect. The missus and I are on bottle of rose 3. Periodic plates of leftovers. Cricket.

I'm at dad's just north of Cambridge (Waikato) for a couple of days and my stepbrother's kids are crying every half an hour. That definitely doesn't fall into the gorgeous category.
