@Snowy when me and a few mates played at Omaha a few weeks back, one mate (non-golfer) lost a ball a hole, sometimes more!
Luckily while hunting for his golf balls in the non-spider and snake rough and wetlands, we found plenty more for him to lose again!

That's the secret to my (lack of) success. Where ever I lose a ball, someone else has invariably lost one before me.
