Awesome stuff you see on the internet

@jegga Yeah, the whole design concept for the Mosssie and Hornet amuses me.
"What ho chaps, need a new plane. Quite like those Merlin things but think that 2 is better than one so lets do that. Power to weight ratio seems to work and this is already grossly overpowered but Merlins are heavy so how do we keep the weight down?"
Voice from back of room -"make it out of wood".
Gales of laughter.

@Snowy Yeah I was very happy that the previous one made it to Wings in the 'rapa. I'd booked flights and hotels etc for a boys trip to AKL for the display, then wife had to fly to UK for funeral. Stuck at home with the kids! Then it came down for WIngs - very happy. What a sound when it wound up for take off

@Snowy the conversation when they designed the f4u Corsair must have been interesting
“I want to put the biggest propeller ever put on a plane in front of that motor , how do we keep it off the ground?”
“ all good , we can bend the wings to lift the motor up”
12 months later
“ um, so the guys taking off in carriers say they can’t see shit when they are taking off and they are worried about ending up in the water”
“Fuck”

Awesome because of the idiots diving in without reading and making absolute tools of themselves. Beautifully played

I don't know what's worse; twitter or facebook. I'll probably elect for Facebook because there's more users and any argument on facebook shows why we're unlikely to progress much further as a species.

I thought I had video and more pics myself from this but can't seem to find them (think I uploaded them somewhere). The couple I can find include one of the Mrs in the Mossie cockpit so it seems my memory of climbing in wasn't a fake one.
BTW: I hear a strong rumour of a very exciting first for Wanaka this year. Think big, very big. Think hairdo and 80s music.

Mrs Mariner was reading those to me on the drive to work this morning. Some were fucking gold.
It's almost too stupid to be real. Surely?

Well I think you got the stupid part right in that anyone who chooses to not vaccinate their kids isn't the smartest.
I haven't met anyone like that thankfully.
One of my best mates is married to a woman who is all about the power of light colours on skin and herbal remedies and non western science and even she didn't hesitate in getting her kids vaccinated.

@mariner4life yeah you do wonder sometimes, but people behind a keyboard can say funny shit.
