@MN5 might have to watch 28 Days Later again, been a while...other issue is, like Vampires films and those genres, is they are fucking with tradition...vampires walking in daylight, running zombies and shit...trying to reinvent the genres!

also watched Hunter Killer...ooh-rah USA, USA vs Russia sub marine movie where a maniacal Russian MInister kidnaps the Russian president intent on starting war!

Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman and a few other familiar faces.

Decent enough action flick, switch off your smarts for large parts though.

The Last Sharknado: It's About Time

Finn and many of the participants from previous movies (calling them actors is a bit of a stretch) use a time travel machine to travel through history and prevent sharknados from ever happening.

Lots of guest musicians, scientists and actors with bit roles, so was sorta fun spotting them. Like previous installments, the special effects budget was not stretched.

Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil

This is on Netflix. Basque is like listening to Greek crossed with Spanish and French to my untrained ear.

But this was quite good. Very stylistic, and dark, with a good healthy dose of Middle Ages superstition brought forward into the 1800s. Little bit of panto in there too.

This pretty much sounds like the best movie ever.

    Cliffhanger

Why do most of Arnies 80s/90s movies hold up pretty well but Sly does basically the same thing and it ages like a pint of milk ? Some pretty awesome mountain climbing sequences but overall just an embarrassing crap fest all round, the 'hot' chick looks like a boy and the guy from that crap 90s sitcom about Aliens ( 3rd rock from the sun, thanks Google) tries to convince us he is a badass megalomaniac. Sly......you try so hard, you're jacked and clearly did loads of your own stunts but why do I get the impression you just ended up with the rubbish Arnie turned down ?

Don't reminisce, avoid at all costs

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Well what can I say about a bona fide absolute stonking fucken classic that hasn't been said ? Cheesy, dated, a few plot holes ( how does Tuco know who Angel Eyes is ? Would Blondie really dissolve a partnership that's getting him 3 grand a pop ? ) but holy shit.....I love this movie. Clint is fucken magnificent but Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach are just as, if not better than he is. Luckily cos many of the supporting characters are horribly wooden and badly dubbed.

Best part of this is my boys loved it too. I can't imagine enjoying a movie made 11 years before my old man was born....it gives me hope for this generation.....

@MN5 Same thing with Ms Cato no1. Loves the old Clint spaghetti westerns. She even introduced me to a more obscure one with LVC in. Death Rides a Horse. Worth a look. 4 3 minute long shots out of 5 of the usual soundtracks.

That's a goody but still probably not even his top five westerns.

    Actually it's definitely not.

    I'd go for....

Good the Bad and the Ugly
    For a few dollars more
    Unforgiven
    Outlaw Josey Wales
    Pale Rider

Fuck, there's some seriously good flicks that miss out. No room for Fistful of Dollars ( great fun but the 'sequels' just got better and better ) Joe Kidd, Hang em High or indeed High Plains Drifter...

Watched 28 days later and 28 weeks later, both still good zombie flicks, but you gotta laugh at how stupid people are.

Thought Robert Carlysle was in the 1st one, didnt realise it was Cillian Murphy (although before he was Thomas Shelby)

Have Good BAd and Ugly, must watch that again too.

The 'rape' scene stands out like dog's balls by today's values. It probably wasn't even considered a rape back in the day.

Reminds me of a quote from and old (crap) James Coburn film, when the sheriff got a complaint of rape from the female lead he laughed and said "Assault with a friendly weapon". 1970's eh?
