@RLx31 you leave to fight for a cause that is against 'your country', you lose your rights as a citizen of that country, seems pretty simple.

Simple and wrong. I don't agree that people should be made stateless. Besides, what if you're fighting the "good fight"?

Yeah, I was thinking that, what if someone left to fight for a pro Assad militia against ISIS - they're fighting for the 'enemy' against the other 'enemy'.

What part of "against your country" was so hard to grasp there?

I'd suggest that if they wanted to make a difference for their own country (UK for example) they join the forces here instead. If their interests are not in favour of their own country and supporting whichever enemy then they don't belong here.

I really believe that the UK needs too be brave and make this decision, we've been to flimsy for too long and maybe some shocking decisions need to be made now for the greater good of their own citizens who aren't running off joining terrorist groups.

Against your own country? That makes no sense.

The only alternative IMO is to let her come back in and spend life in prison for Treason.

No. She shouldn't be given the opportunity to radicalise inmates or waste our resources, let's face it she'd be in luxury compared to where she is now.

I only read @antipodean's post and responded to the "good fight" question so didn't try to grasp "against your country" at all.

I'd be happy with that. Charge her with a relevant crime and act like a civilised society.

Erm, how does that relate to fighting for Assad against ISIS? At any rate it's a bit strange to compare resistance groups in dictatorships and occupied countries with stable western democracies.
