dudes, i just grabbed the first notable that came up in the google image search. Otherwise i would have hunted around for Elle, or that hot chick from Angel, or any one of the multitudes of ridiculous women who have been talked in to this.

Charlize is better with clothes than without i reckon
-

I had come to the conclusion it was Judd. Doesn't look anything like Theron! -
Penguins of Madagascar: Not bad. Enjoyed it more than the other Madagascar films.

Ninja Turtles: Pretty crap story but awesome effects made up for that. Really enjoyed it.

Caught up with an old favourite, Bad Santa. That is one of the funniest films you will ever see. -
How to Train Your Dragon 1 & 2: My 22 month old son is absolutely obsessed with these movies. I assume he kind of understands what's happening. Bloody good movies, though the 2nd one has a rather sad moment towards the end...

Nepia , Ashley Judds been without clothing in a few films. The best is probably the Marilyn Monroe film , waaaaaay hotter than Charlize has ever been IMHO .

I'm well aware of Judd's nakedness on film thank you very much ... I used to actively source it in the days when you had to go to the video store to find it unlike now with various websites.

Judd was always my favourite by far (and much more so than Theron). Judd and Salma Hayek were the 90s hottest to me.

Which one?
-

I don't want to disagree with your extensive background research Nepia, but to my admittedly morally upstanding eyes Salma Hayek has gotten hotter with age.

I watched hiphoperation on a flight recently.

It did the art house circuit in NZ mid 2014 so unlikely to still be showing but worth a watch if yr on Air NZ or when it comes on TV.

Documentary following a group of 65-93 year old hip hop "dancers" from Waiheke all the way to the World Champs in Vegas.

Makes some poignant comments on ageist generalisations and mortality that near had me embarrass myself mid Ta$man

I concur. -

I liked the first Taken film....

November Man - Pierce Brosnan, Olga Kurylenko (for the Jeggas out there)

IMO Brosnan was more convincing in this role than he ever was as Bond, not a bad film, lots of action, easy to watch.
-
Have seen the following over the past couple of weeks during down time in NZ:

Transformers, The Robot Dinosaur One - actually wasn't that stupid up until the end. My expectations were low to start, but the final few minutes were just weird. It's like when things aren't exploding, the writers have no idea what to do. I'm not after Shakespeare, but give it at least a little thought.

47 Ronin - enjoyed it for the most part. But the editing is what made it a poor film overall. Jumped around too quickly with ten second scenes preventing the buildup of momentum.

13 Assassins - Japanese film included in the on-demand movies in the current digs (Quest ChCh - good spot actually). Classic long-buildup-then-massive-gorefest Asian martial arts movie. Good fun. Steeped in Shogunate politics. -

Academy Award nominations are out and The Lego Movie didn't even get a nomination for best animated film. Everything is not awesome. I'm angry enough about this to write a post about it.

The Best Film nominations are:

Boyhood

Grand Budapest Hotel

Selma

Birdman

The Imitation Game

American Sniper

The Theory of Everything

Whiplash

I've seen the 3 bolded ones, am seeing American Sniper on Sunday at an advance screening, and will see Birdman on cheap Tuesday. If I can still find Whiplash in a cinema I will go see that too.

Boyhood is my pick so far.
-
Lone Survivor. Top movie. Not sure how much of it is true though.

I'm reading American Sniper so far. Have to say his constant references to "you Yankees" are pissing me off.

Anyway, on the flight back, watched the Dwayne Johnson version of Hercules. It didn't suck, but I'm glad I didn't pay to see it

I've got the book, but will watch movie first. I've read Lone Survivor, these American military types seem to be pretty right wing, might is right, USA USA USA types of blokes ... but you know that going in.

I really enjoyed Hercules, I think Johnson is awesome in pretty much anything these days, and I liked how they didn't focus on the labours, but when they did show them they put a modern/realist spin on them. TBF the best part probably was the comic strip at the end showing them. Still, I thought it was a good popcorn movie.

Most of it is true going by the book, aside from a really compressed timeline and more cliff falling.
-

Yeah Lutteril wasn't that bad, and he actually seemed like an intelligent and thoughtful bloke when not in Texas George W supporting mode.

Is there any point me reading the book now? I just bought a copy the other day. ;(

You should definitely read Lone Survivor.
-
I liked Lone Survivor, and yea just ignore the hoorah bs, keen on American Sniper, not sure I'm sold on Cooper as the lead in it, but will see...off to the movies tomorrow but as I have the kids I can't see that being the film I see....

It's interesting to see his perspective on what he was doing and the training etc. as I've said before he doesn't come across as the most likeable of people but I think 99.9% of people couldn't do what he did, also like Luttrell he comes across as reasonably intelligent. I just finished Carlos Hathcocks book and that was very good but quite sad reading about how the ms took it's toll on him.
