John Wick, 10/10 for what it aimed for. Instant cult classic 🙂

Birdman - Really really good, lived up to the hype for me. The first 40 - 60 minutes was laugh out loud funny and the remainder was really good drama. It wasn't what I expected it to be either. Keaton was really good, so was Norton, it also had Naomi Watts and Emma Stone (who looked really really pale) who were both good and the annoying bearded guy from The Hangover who was great in a straighter role.

I'm looking forward to seeing John Wick when it comes out on Blueray/DVD.

Super 8 - I've seen this in bits and pieces. Can see why it was liked. Good idea, good performances.

The Drop - James Gandolfini, Tom Hardy and the chick with a Dragon Tattoo.

Bit of a slow burning crime drama, never really gets going, but decent enough and keeps you interested and comes to a decent conclusion.

I really liked this. It's more than the sum of its parts, because it shouldn't have been that good because it's not super original.

Acting made it pretty watchable, and I the Aspergers-ish take on Hardy's character was fascinating.

Wish Hollywood would come up with a decent romcom. All the movies I've watched lately (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Munich and Babel) have been bleak as fuck.

Hmmm, you're quite up to date with your movie watching. ;)

I've watched some indie romcoms recently that were watchable from a red blooded male pov, Drinking Buddies and Two Night Stand. You might like them.

dunno if Drinking Buddies is really a rom-com, more like a dram-ance with a few laughs...although it wasnt too bad, especially with Olivia Wilde (cue Jegga in 3...2...1...) 😉

That's probably true, Two Night Stand is kind of the same - but they might be mire up Mokey's alley than the three she listed.

I don't have a tv and there is no movie theatre. I buy DVD's on special because of extreme budget restrictions.

Ahem, all good, I don't know of any good romcoms from that era. If Katherine Hiegel isn't your bag then how about Matthew McConaughy - he was in every one that Heigel wasn't in the mid 2000s until about 2 years ago.

Some actual recommendations: 500 Days of Summer, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, Celeste and Jesse Forever, the Before Sunset trilogy, and Say Anything is a classic old one. They should all be floating around fairly cheaply on DVD at the moment.

Katherine Heigl movies are actual instruments of torture, and if you get dragged to one, your girlfriend is punishing you for some infraction and should probably apologise and buy her chocolate immediately.

I mean Christ Almighty, they don't even change the plot for them. Beautiful, neurotic, immature basket case with wise cracking bestie meets hot player, who for some utterly unknown reason doesn't sprint in the other direction, but instead relishes her sniping comments and complete lack of self esteem cos underneath the fucking annoying icing is just a sweet little cupcake.

Clearly the scriptwriters hate her too, cos they never give her actual human dialogue.

I mean, she is pretty tidy!
