dunno if Drinking Buddies is really a rom-com, more like a dram-ance with a few laughs...although it wasnt too bad, especially with Olivia Wilde (cue Jegga in 3...2...1...)

That's probably true, Two Night Stand is kind of the same - but they might be mire up Mokey's alley than the three she listed.
-

Hmmm, you're quite up to date with your movie watching. ;)

I've watched some indie romcoms recently that were watchable from a red blooded male pov, Drinking Buddies and Two Night Stand. You might like them.

I don't have a tv and there is no movie theatre. I buy DVD's on special because of extreme budget restrictions.
-

Ahem, all good, I don't know of any good romcoms from that era. If Katherine Hiegel isn't your bag then how about Matthew McConaughy - he was in every one that Heigel wasn't in the mid 2000s until about 2 years ago.

Some actual recommendations: 500 Days of Summer, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, Celeste and Jesse Forever, the Before Sunset trilogy, and Say Anything is a classic old one. They should all be floating around fairly cheaply on DVD at the moment.
-

Katherine Heigl movies are actual instruments of torture, and if you get dragged to one, your girlfriend is punishing you for some infraction and should probably apologise and buy her chocolate immediately.

I mean Christ Almighty, they don't even change the plot for them. Beautiful, neurotic, immature basket case with wise cracking bestie meets hot player, who for some utterly unknown reason doesn't sprint in the other direction, but instead relishes her sniping comments and complete lack of self esteem cos underneath the fucking annoying icing is just a sweet little cupcake.

Clearly the scriptwriters hate her too, cos they never give her actual human dialogue.
-

cos they (the male lead character) like poor Vrigil who was dragged to see them is just after a shag?

I mean, she is pretty tidy!
-

Knocked up wasn't so bad, but then came doozies like Killers, One for the Money, The Ugly Truth, New Years Eve, Life as we know it...

Blurg.

Apart from knocked up I'm fortunate not to have seen any of those others, I think shes got a new series starting on tv that I will be avoiding too.
-

Once. As I've said many times I'll watch any genre of film - except for Matthew McConaughy/Kate Hudson romcoms and Heigel ones apparently going by Mokey's list above.

I'm secure enough in my manhood to admit to watching and enjoying all those ones I listed.

Watched The Drop tonight, thought it was a pretty decent film. To go all Jegga modeall it lacked was some decent totty.

Ugh, yes, Kate Hudson has starred in some bloody awful trash. Actually, there are so many bad ones it's hard to say which is worst, but I truly loathed Something Borrowed. One of the most disgusting plotlines ever - 'heroine' sleeps with best friend's (nasty selfish cow) fiance 'hero', but it is ok cos she liked him first at law school. They keep cheating, won't tell bestie, wet mop groom won't call off wedding cos his mum has depression and is SO EXCITED about it. Blah blah blah oh lookie it's all sorted cos actually bitch bestie was cheating with fiance's friend and is pregnant to him and THE END.
-
Mokey,

Just pick up cheap some old Tracey/Hepburn movies. Or anything from the golden age of romantic comedy when the plots weren't written for teenagers.

Ironically given the reality of the times, women in romcoms from the 40's were often stronger, more intelligent and sassier than what were given today.

Katherine Heigl is ordinary, and vastly over rated.

Agreed, last time her name came up someone posted a heavily shopped picture of her as evidence of her outstanding hotness. It was the one that pops up on cracked every now and then on those 10 most photoshopped pictures of celebs lists.
