the story of Cathay Pacific flight 780

An awful lot more to that story. It wasn't a double engine failure for starters. One failed and the other was "stuck" at a middle range power setting that the pilots couldn't change, hence the high speed landing.

I know both of the pilots and they did an amazing job.

I have had a go in a sim myself and got it to a stop safely as well but fucking scary.

I hoped you'd find that post eventually - almost tagged you in it 🙂

I like the Air Crash Investigations stories where the crew and passengers are alive to retell the story!

@Donsteppa A bit busy moving house, etc at the moment - or killing people and making suits out of them depending on who you believe on the fern.

However I have found it and it is mostly true as I understand what happened. Saying it was a double engine failure is a push though. I won't go into it all.
I had Dave as my F/O for years, really calm sound guy and they got the deserved result.

@Stargazer only works with very ripe pineapples, otherwise it's a mission to pull apart like that. Cool idea though.

Speaking of education, here's some good advice for women everywhere (you'll have to scroll through):

Ever thought about replacing your wheels with circular saw blades and driving over ice and snow?

No, for the same reason walking in snowshoes is easier than ice skates.

@Tim I can't stop watching this everytime I'm here. Love how it just rolls straight up, twats him then fucks off as though it's off to fuck someone else up.
