@Siam said in New Zealand v Bangladesh Test #2:

@hydro11 India, SL and Pakistan produce quick bowlers on the same type of pitches.

They're no longer new to international cricket and surely have enough resources to coach international tail enders to be at least as good with the bat as 3rd grade club cricketers.

Apparently they don’t like to practice batting and even when they do it’s probably against a flotilla of spinners given the lack of pace bowling resources they seem to have. Bit of a viscous circle. What they should do if they do manage to identify some pace bowling talent at an age grade level is send them here, Australia, SA or England to gain some experience on livelier pitches and in the nets.

So Kane is out for 1-2 weeks and therefore will miss the third test. I think Will Young’s name was mentioned in the media as a possible replacement. Not sure where he bats domestically but they should use this opportunity to try Nicholls at first drop and give Young the less pressurised introduction of coming in at five. It’s very much how Australia used to do it when they dominated and had a settled top order with the likes of Ponting, Martyn and Blewett all getting early opportunities at five or six.

In a year or two (hopefully the latter) we'll need to promote Nicholls to four and then Young could resume at five.

Young bats at three for Central. But agree that he should come in at 5.

Nice conversation to have, I think I remember being on here years ago during Flemings stint at three and saying he may as well open given he was often out there early anyway....so good we've moved on from this talk our openers efforts in this test notwithstanding......

Nicholls at four is obvious. His achievements have astounded me if I'm completely honest. CDGH does enough to keep himself in the side so not being a massive follower of the domestic game I'm unsure who the next cab off the rank is. Good reading posts from others about who is in with a shot.

With this innings it takes us up to 1147/12 from two innings.

    2 x 200s
    3 x 100s

Fuck me days, that's extraordinary !

So pleasing to see our entire top order cashing in with at least one big score each ( bar Watling, fuck, drop the useless prick. Surely Smithy can trim down and make a comeback ? )

Whilst Bangladesh are admittedly a bit shit in a lot of areas that's still some serious fap material for BC fans.

    Just a shame it’s only a 3 test series.
Another 3 tests would have been mint

I love a good stats padding series as the next man, but I’m a little concerned we are playing test cricket right now when the World Cup is right at the door step. We have some work ons and decisions for our ODI side.

    is it opposite day?

I didn't even realise Matt Henry was playing in the test! There is something wrong with us if there is a full days play and we can't win.

I've not been impressed with Henry in the short bits I've seen of him bowl. He seems to struggle with being accurate enough at this level, he may bowl the odd jaffa but he also seems to leak a lot of runs. Interested in the views of others who are actually able to watch a whole day ....

@KiwiPie a constant message from all the commentators I've listened too is that he thrives on a lot of overs. So they seem to be putting down his average form to limited overs. As opposed to a guy like Wagner that literally hits the ground running. Said that ask any first class NZ player about Henry and they'd say his accuracy and consistency is a big part of his game. But you contrast that with his BC performances and you are spot on, he leaks runs and doesn't seem that accurate.

Still backing him for our ODI squad in English conditions. But also hope he'll get enough overs to really be firing.

To be fair he’s taken twice as many wickets in this test then all out spinners (whose spot he’s taken) combined all summer. That’s based on 2 x 0 which I guess technically is 0..

Probably. But I don't think the commentator knows what "short of a length" actually is.

short of length around off, gets Mahmudullah jumping

short of length and Mahmudullah backs away, pulls it in front of square, a top edge

That sounds like "short", not "Short of a length" which is neither drivable nor cuttabe/pullable (but isn't threatening the stumps).

Wagner and Boult finish off the Bang Bros. BCs win the series 2-0 with one test left to go. Williamson and Watling will probably both be rested for the last one with Young and Blundell most likely to come in.

This series is just batting and bowling practice....
