@KiwiMurph So the finals are back to how they used to be before the Super 18. And no more conferences. Good.
The only thing I don't like is that teams don't have the same number of home and away matches (yes, I know they're alternating the next year), but that's what you get with an even number of teams.
Glad the Jaguares are still there. Don't care about the Sunwolves.

@nzzp Yeah, but money brought them to introducing the Super 18 format, which was a disaster. Money is one thing, good and attractive rugby that we want to watch in a fair and simple competition format is something else. That format is now fixed.

Did the old super 14 have top six playoffs or just a top 4? My memory is that top six came in with super 15 but not certain about that.

Okay, looked it up and the old super 14 had 4 final spots, so this tournament will be a week longer than the old super 14

Super 15. That was when the three pools came in so we had 3 pool winners and three wild cards.

This will then lead into a new three-week, best versus best, super-charged, top six finals series. The top two ranked teams on the competition ladder will receive a bye in week one before hosting semi-final matches against the winners from a knockout round between teams ranked three to six.I’m shocked, this is good. A return to the best teams making the finals, not pity selections for weak conferences.
Only change I would make is semi finals, having a top 6 in a 14 team comp is a bit much.

Disagree. Far prefer top 6 to semi finals.
