Not three bad there @mariner4life 2&1 were correct but 3 was Welcome To The Jungle.
I don't understand how Paradise City isn't number 1 let along top three! That also used to be my favourite music video

After watching the Motley Crue movie, i am now reading Duff McKagan's book, and therefore i am also listening to Guns n Roses
Appetite for Destruction fucking rules. In the conversation for greatest debut album ever, and best side 1 track 1 too. I absolutely love the guitar sound and the riffs throughout this album.
Anyway, in an album of standout tracks, this is my favourite.
Probably closely followed by Nightrain
I fuckin' love that album.

Alot of my favourite bands have a signature song that is either overplayed or quite shit.....
Case in point - Led Zep "Stairway to Heaven" Deep Purple "Smoke on the Water" and Faith no More "Epic"
Each of those groups has in my opinion done countless way better songs than the ones they are most famous for.

@MN5 the Epic thing drives me nuts. It's not even close to the best track on the album it's off. And yet there it is, FNM's only song apparently.

Well you and I are much bigger fans that most to be fair. I don't genuinely hate it as much as the other two which are THE signature songs of those two rock icons.......

@MN5 to be fair, most people would battle to name another Deep Purple song (I personally love Highway Star, but that's hardly an obscure choice)
As an aside, Use Your Illusion is a bloated mess.

I certainly don't agree with that, "Black Night" "Women from Tokyo" "Speed King" "Hush" "Space Truckin"......every one a staple on rock radio.
Definitely not in the Led Zep stratosphere but they were a fucken massive group.
Richies guitar work in "Highway Star" is absolutely exceptional.

The Real Thing"Woodpecker from Mars" is a great instrumental and you can't go past "From out of Nowhere"
I'm amazed "The Real Thing" isn't much better known. It is one of my favourite ever rock songs.

I reckon that's pretty weak compared to the rest of the album.
Some reckon Angel Dust was an even better follow up. I'd probably rate them about even.
To echo your sentiments about "The Real Thing" it is truly one of those epic ( excuse the shit pun ) tracks that every single person I have played it to absolutely loves. To me it's one of those tunes that should be fighting it out for a top 10 spot in the Rock 1500.

I have listened to Appetite a LOT this week.
And i am now firmly of the view that the first 6 songs are up there with the first 6 songs of any record ever. Let alone a debut record. What an opening to a career. And i am completely unsurprised that they just exploded. Had anybody heard anything like it in 1987? It's not metal, it's not punk, what we know as alternative music didn't exist, it's just raw and dirty, but with an amazing groove to it.
And having listened to both Illusion records, they were not even close to recapturing that spirit. It's an over-long, over-produced bloated mess. And that's not surprising given the state of them by that point.
