Personally I think it would be the coolest thing ever if they somehow worked in a scene where Han meets up with Leia after not having seen each other for years. They hug share a "look" and then leave in opposite directions. Then Han says to Chewie - "Bro fucken dodged that bullet!"

I must say, I'm kinda hoping this movie includes a scene where everyone takes turns systematically torturing Jar Jar Binks. Or his carcase is already a rug and they all clean galactic shit off their boots with his ears.

Man that gave me a stiffy. Fark yeah.

Interesting with the "my father had it" voice over. I wonder if he's talking to Han-Lea spawn. I haven't read any of the EU books, but I believe they had a whole menagerie. Would piss off alot of people if he in fact snuck out of an Ewok hut early one morning and left her on Endor.

Ahhh. But that "you have that power too" line. Is that from Jedi as well or is that new?

Early days but I get the feeling Abrahams is creating the kind of film we actually wanted to see in 1999. Hope so.

and the offshoot movie "Rouge One" outline is...

The Jedis are all but extinct, the Old Republic is in turmoil and the threat of the Death Star is looming in Rogue One, fans learned at Star Wars Celebration.

Director Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) debuted a tantalising concept reel to preview the mysterious film, which is part of a series of films exploring other stories outside of the core Star Wars saga.

"For more than 1000 generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times. Before the Empire," the voiceover reads, as the camera tracks to show a ghostly Death Star hovering in the clouds.

Set between the third and the fourth movies in the Star Wars saga, the film will follow a band of resistance fighters who unite to steal the Death Star plans and "bring a new hope," referring to the subtitle of the original Star Wars.

Felicity Jones, who recently garnered an Oscar nomination for her role in The Theory of Everything is the only confirmed cast member for the film, which will shoot in London this summer for a December 16, 2016 release. Jones will play a rebel soldier, the director said.

Edwards said that her character will not just be a stoic soldier, but a complex, fully rounded human.

"We wanted to see fear, warmth, all of those aspects that everybody has," he said, excited that Jones embodies "the complete package."

In the world of Rogue One, Edwards said the "absence of Jedi is omnipresent".

The characters in the film realize that the "gods are not coming to save us," he said.

"It comes down to a group of people who don't have magical powers who band together to bring hope to the galaxy."

Cinderella scribe Chis Weitz wrote the screenplay based on an idea from visual effects supervisor John Knoll.

Josh Trank, who is set to direct the next, still untitled Star Wars anthology film, did not attend the event although he was originally scheduled to appear.

Kiri Hart, vice president of development for Lucasfilm, said that the anthology films will vary in "scale and genre".

"We wanted freedom to do some films that would be able to stand on their own and tell unique stories," she said.

"They can still feel like Star Wars and be Star Wars."

A couple or three questions.

What's the highest grossing movie of all time?

What's the highest Week or day record?

How much with this movie beat them all by? :)

I'm a bit miffed that true-love isn't as excited about this movie as I am.

Highest grossing is Avatar with $2,787,965,087. This is 2nd after inflation adjustment behind Gone With the Wind ($3,440,000,000)

Highest opening weekend (worldwide) is the last Harry Potter movie at $483,189,427.

Star Wars is going to make a shit load, but there is some serious money to be made this year. The new Avengers movie due in a couple of weeks will make a fuck ton. Furious 7 is already up to 7th all-time.

I wonder if those have that much of an effect? The Dark Knight was probably going to be a smash anyway. Ledgers death didn't help Gilliam's movie, and Walker's death didn't help his other movies released recently.

So combo of both I guess, big movies anyway but maybe getting a bump putting them higher than they would.

I guess we'll see with the next Fast and Furious whether it's solely down to Walker's death. More screen time for the Rock can only be a good thing!
