What shits me about the TV series is that the books are full of cool links/symbolism/foreshadowing which don't come through in the show. I guess some of that is necessary to fit all the detail of thousands of pages of writing into (only!) 8 seasons.
To be fair the show did get in a few throwback zingers from Bran, like "chaos is a ladder" to Littlefinger in season 7 and "the things we do for love" to Jamie in season 8.

Re eggs.. Weren't they dormant or something can't quite remember eitherThey were a wedding gift from the protector of Danerys and Viserys, the guy that brokered her marriage to Drogo. Can't remember the character's name or where he said he got the eggs from. He was played by Roger Allam is about all I can recall.

That was Illyrio Mopatis (I looked that up). It appears they've just spliced his character together with Varys now.

@Machpants not an uncommon tactic in alot of battles...tough building a castle and walls to keep 10s of thousands safe inside...except Winterfell.
Battle is fought outside and directed form the inside...unless you have dragons, then you fuck off and fly around in the fog

I liked it alot. I am sure I will be in the minority. But I think they pulled that off REALLY well.

I never thought I'd end up feeling sorry for Varys. Harsh from Dany.
Some poignant moments from the Lannister brothers.
Plot armour saved Euron Greyjoy brilliantly on the Dragons first charge.
How many innocent people died due to Danys rampage ? by christ she's an absolute bitch.
I ended up feeling a bit sorry for Cercei whilst developing hatred for Dany.
Hound vs Ser Gregor ? fucken outstanding fight, I like how the latter dispatched the advisor ( name escapes me ) so ruthlessly. RIP Hound. You were the man.
Jaime Lannister vs Greyjoy was so convenient and contrived but fuck man, make sure the prick is dead !
So much to tidy up next week.........

Her arc is great, all that build up, and she just turns out to be the worst Targyrion. She also, finally, worked out how to use a dragon - pity it was mostly against a few hundred thousand innocents!
