I see that Sione Havili captained College Rifles on the weekend.:thumbs_up_light_skin_tone:

I also saw that Leon Fukofuka was captain of Kagifa Samoa in the Rapid Rugby comp. The team also includes Auckland prop, Taniela Koroi, and
a few other former Auckland club players.

Kagifa Samoa is coached by Counties coach, Daryl Suasua, and their home ground is Pukekohe Stadium. I think there's a good chance Fukofuka plays NPC this year, if not for us, then probably Counties.

@Nepia Don't think it's an exclusively Samoan team. Fukofuka was one of several Tongans in the team who played for the team on the weekend. There were also a few Fijians in the team and even a Maori(Matiaha Martin).

Alex Hodgman playing for Auckland this year.

Does that mean Prattley is not coming back?

@Dice I would guess not re:Prattley. With Hodgman, Lindenmuth, Jarrod Adams and young Robb Cobb coming through we are well covered at loosehead.

@Dice Unless they use one of those guys at Tighthead to back up Renata and Marco Fepulea'i ( who is currently playing in the U.S. but is returning for Auckland as i understand.) I havn't heard if Taniela Koroi is returning.

@Daffy-Jaffy If they used one of the looseheads as tighthead cover, it'd probably be Adams. He's been playing tighthead this year for Suburbs with Lindenmuth at loosehead.

What's all the high rating of this guy based on? He was pretty much a bench prop when he played down here for Wellington. He hasn't been named in the Fiji World Cup Training Squad.

@Higgins I don't think anyone was 'rating' him at all. I only mentioned him in discussion about who the props might be for this season because he was in the squad last season. He played a couple of games early last season and went OK, until he was injured out of the comp, but we have plenty of depth this season so he may not be picked this year. He has been playing in that Perth based rapid rugby competition so may not even return to Auckland? Also rating him on his performances for Wellington 5 years ago may not be so relevent to today. He is alot more experienced now including some seasons in europe.

I see the Suburbs club Premiers defaulted their first round Portola trophy match against East Tamaki today. Does anyone know why? I wonder if it is some kind of fallout from the Dillan Halaholo parent revolt drama.

Watched Kings touch up St Kents, 52 - 19.

Very impressive game from Kings 10, Aidan Morgan, who has been in the Blues Junior program for the last few years. Hopefully Auckland has snapped this kid up.

@Daffy-Jaffy probably in protest at the decision to drop them down to the Portola Trophy, replaced by Papatoetoe. They didn't meet the criteria of having to field 4 senior sides I think so lost their place in the top 8 Alan McEvoy round.

@Duluth The number 11 that scored was AJ Lam who was in the squad last season but rarely if ever played. The centre who offloaded in the tackle for the 3rd try was Sasa Tofilau who apparently played a game for the Magpies last season and is with Rifles this year. The young halfback in the white headgear who scored the final try is Rilloy Suesue from Ponsonby he was in the Auckland team that won the Jock Hobbs u19's in 2017.
Sasa Tofilau has had an interesting journey from Samoa to Kelston boys, to the Brisbane Broncos academy, to the aussie under 20 union team, to Scotland rugby for 2 years them briefly it seems with Hawkes Bay last season.
Edit:- He was picked for the aussie u20's but never played due to injury.
