Rim of the World. Kids movie about Alien invasion on Netflix. Think Goonies without the charm, good script and enjoyment. Youngest seemed to enjoy it but a fair few comments were pretty inappropriate for the young ones. In other words, decent story but appalling shit dialogue and kids you want to die rather than save the day.
Yep that one has tantalised me on Netflix for a week or two now. One to potentially watch with the boys but this review has certainly put me off....

It looks really good but I think your boys are a tad too young. It's one of those weird films that is supposed to be for young teens but they then oversteps the mark for no reason other than lame jokes. Stick to the 80s classics.

Odd how that still shot is transposed from the actual scene in the trailer.

Just don't.

Brilliant. Can't wait. I hope they do as good of a job as these guys:

Deadwood the Movie
4 I been shot out of 5 you'll fukking live
so many familiar faces, many went on to Sons of Anarchy others onto other things, but seems the series kick-started a number of careers.

The Mule
Clint looking extremely old and frail and he's definitely no Harry Callaghan, Walt Kowalski, Man with no Name or Joe Kidd here. A very "real" character with multiple flaws. Decent story, pretty leisurely paced and a bit bittersweet at the end.
4 cocaine bags out of 5 DEA agents ( extra points for surely being the great mans last movie )

@MiketheSnow FUCK. YES.

Always Be My Maybe. (Netflix)
If you need to pick up some brownie points/suggest a rom com that is actually quite funny and has Keanu Reeves playing a caricature of himself, this is the one. Top celebrity chef heroine, stoner air con installer/band dude hero. (The end credits song is called I Punched Keanu Reeves.)

+1 Watched it the other night and it's amusing. From the crew that brought you Fresh off the Boat.

@antipodean It didn't improve - it got even sillier. I guess it sort of succeeded in setting up the later timeline but was a yawnfest for me. Only watched it because it was exactly the right length for a flight last weekend

Skyscraper
The Rock fights a building.
Well, not really. A ridiculously involved and stupidly contrived bad guy plan in an impossibly high building endangers The Rocks family. The Rock does not take that shit well. Carnage ensues. Well, carnage, and all sorts of silly and implausible shit.
It was fun, disengage brain, and watch The Towering Inferno without the impending sense of danger. But with way more The Rock.
Neve Campbell is still pretty hot, but in a housewife way these days.

Stan and Ollie - another one from the same flight.
Affectionate look at the last tour of Laurel and Hardy.
Slow paced but very well acted - they get the timing, look and feel of the comic duo spot on.
You don't have to like or know anything about the two clowns to enjoy a well observed human interest story.
Its really a love story - a partnership of decades with its ups and downs that was clearly more meaningful than their (many) marriages. For a moment at the end I confess there was a bit of sand in the air inside NZ45
4 Trails of the Lonesome Pine / 5 another fine messes you've got me into.
Also caught A Star is Born on the outbound flight. Was expecting so much more after all I'd read and heard. Massively underwhelmed. So Gaga can act and Bradley whatshis name can sing. Wasn't bad but certainly didn't deliver on hype. Bit pointless really.
3 Kristoffersons / 5 Streisands

Neve Campbell lost all my respect for not getting her tits out in ‘Wild Things’ when Denise Richards did.
My mate got that out on VHS and we watched that scene a few times before the VCR chewed up the tape and he returned it, got a fine and promptly moved to another United Video just to avoid paying.
Kids these days have it so easy with Pornhub.

Terminator 2:Judgement Day.
Was on ITV the other night so watched it. It's unbelievable that this movie is 28 years old. Some of those special effects that were rightly lauded at the time, still look pretty fresh.
So many plot holes, but still one of the best action movies of all time.
