@Canes4life looks like bullshit to me. A spinner keeping his hands warm is hardly suspicious.

@NTA pretty sure plenty advocated to stop booing Kqwayde...cant see it helping, I expect it will be epic when Ang play Aus.

Yep, but it's the new normal for Australia. Honestly, even if he has hand warmers in his pockets for a summer sport, it just looks terrible.

This is going to follow the team around for ages, and they'll just have to cop it.

WI players were doing exactly the same thing last night with the hand warmers. It's a shit article based on stupid tweets for clickbait... but you're right it will follow them around now. Hard to have a heap of sympathy, using sandpaper on the ball in today's age of high definition footage was beyond stupid.

SA with 3 losses and then a wash-out for a must win game. Could not be a worse start for them. Not that they looked like winning though.

The WI quicks aren't the most accurate but shit they can get the ball to jump around. A few deliveries last night were absolutely unplayable.

Shame a tournament that goes for this long can't fit in reserve days here and there.

                      @MN5 it’s Britain ... need reserve weeks!

Today has easily been the wettest day since I’ve lived here. Rained literally the whole day, quite heavy too. Lots of localized flooding!

Should be some interesting pitches / ovals around. All likely to be heavily waterlogged today.

Makes me even more happy that we got the results against the lesser teams without washouts. I'd say there's a few big teams pretty nervous about taking just a draw with the likes of Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

It's frankly bizarre that for a tournament that is 100% about TV, the ICC wouldn't force a reserve day to maximize the product especially when each team averages 4.5 days between games and the most simple travel logistics of any host county.

These two no results will inevitably have a role in determining who makes the semi-final and that will be either a blight on the tournament or just the nature of the beast depending on if it is in New Zealand's favour or not.

@No-Quarter Yeah - we're in a good position with those points banked - and in reality a washout against England or India especially will likely help rather than hinder us.

From here, I'd think we want our games against SA and Pakistan to reach a conclusion. Games against the Windies and Oz are somewhat neutral.

Five wins and a washout would probably get you to the semis, I think.

They're really down in the dumps at the moment. Still have some really classy players - de Kock and Amla opening both with incredible records, but it seemed almost inevitable they'd get out based on body language. Sad to see.

There was a good feature during the rain delay on the history of South Africa in Cricket World Cups since their reentry into international cricket. The All Blacks 1991 - 2007 pale by comparison!

Interesting re-watching the Klusener/Donald run-out from 1999. While Donald seems to gets much of the flak - and would have made his ground if he'd sprinted for it at the start - it was a very dodgy choice of run by Klusener. From a quick pause on MySky, had the ball hit the stumps at the bowlers end, Klusener would also have been well run out with two balls to spare.

At the start of the tournament I had down the most likely path as being...

                                    3/3: Bangles, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan.
2/3: South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies
                                    1/3: India, England, Australia.

But a NR among the remaining games would be fine, preferably in the India/England/Australia group.

Yeah it was great watching the old footage. Agree re: the runout, there was no need to run a dodgy single after belting that four. Bit of a rush of blood from Klusener caught Donald out there. Both players culpable.

In context Donald was sheepish because he could/should have been run out at the non-strikers end a ball earlier because he over-committed and Klusener sent him back.

I really wish SA got over Australia in both the CWC and RWC that year, both were close to the most likable SA teams in their respective sports ever.
