True Detective 2nd series began yesterday.

A bit same samey with the characters and plot at first but with enough scope for variation as it moves forward I guess.

Characters are dysfunctional again which is one of the keys to the first series

Looks good (after 1 ep)

I think it looks good, but whereas I think Vaughn is putting in a pretty restrained performance Farrell seems to be running with all the cliches built into his character and hamming it up. Didn't stop my enjoyment of the first episode though, I liked how it slow built giving out little parts of the story until the final scene.
I did (incorrectly it seems) think that the redhead with Vaughn was going to be the ex wife and mother of the fat ginga kid though.
Crazy that they basically have 4 leads with McAdams and Kitsch in there as well.

Hmmm, McAdams. :)
-

Nepia - tried Moone Boy? The premise sounds naff and it has a bit of a slow start but very funny once it's into its stride.

Is that the one with Chris O'Dowd? I'm currently watching the IT Crowd so it might be overkill but I'll put it on the list for the future. Cheers.
-

Episodes? Silicon Valley? Welcome to Sweden?

I've watched 3 episodes of Silicon Valley and struggled through those not really laughing and not connecting with any of the characters - I might give it another watch.

Is Episodes the one with Joey?

Never heard of Welcome to Sweden - is it subtitled? I wonder how comedy translates with subtitles. I will seek out some episodes. Edit: Just checked - it's in english and stars Amy Poehler's brother and is produced by her so I'll definitely give it a shot.
-

Workaholics, it helps if you are drunk or stoned, but even not its hilarious.

This is an accurate representation of what you are getting....

Actually you need to be stoned.

Episodes is great. But its a slow burn. Matt Leblanc really deserves an Emmy for that, but he's not getting one because think he's just playing himself. Which he probably is.
-

s To Live And Die In LA to become a series on WGN America -

Anyone else seen Deutschland 83 yet? So far two episodes have aired on Sundance TV in the US. Set in West Germany in 1983, it is about an East German officer assuming the identity of a West German and living/spying under cover. German language, English subtitles. Great sound track, and pretty good so far. Obvious comparisons to The Americans.

Silicon Valley is one of those shows that leaves me underwhelmed every time I watch it, but for some reason I want to know what happens in the next episode.

Welcome to Sweden is great but I'd imagine alot of the humour would go over the heads of those who haven't lived in Sweden or Scandinavia. -
On the brink looked pretty good on the first episode , sample dialogue from memory
" did you see the reports on Pakistan this morning?"
" not unless they were written on the vaginal walls of the hooker you just interrupted me with"
I'll be interested to see what the bomber crew get up to after dropping thd wrong pill

Ballers was good but had far too much female nudity for my liking. -

Fargo - a Coen brothers series, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman

Black Comedy, where a series of events unfold leading to drifter Thornton meeting Freeman and doing a job for him, and what follows is a further events as every step of Freemans life is then traced back to the chance meeting of Thornton.

I really liked it, at the start of each episode it tells you it is based on a true story, which it isnt...
-
Nepia - have you tried Legit? Only a couple of seasons but a great watch. Veep isn't too bad either. You've probably seen The League?

Oldie but a goodie is Green Wing.

On a not exactly comedy note, I'm about to finish The Newsroom and reckon it's brilliant. If you haven't seen it, get on it, great viewing. I got halfway through episode one years ago and thought it was boring so shelved it...until it was all I had left on my tablet about a month ago, hardly watched anything else since.

Started on The Messengers... Think I'm going to ditch it, maybe I need to watch it with my vagina but it hasn't really piqued my interest.

Speaking of which - Aquarius (Duchovny) is also very good. Hank as a cop but slightly less outta control.

White Collar is a bit of a guilty pleasure in the something stupid and easy to watch category.

And lastly....I'm not having a bleat but I come in this thread mainly to see what's good to watch. Kinda ruins it if people give up on spoilers.

Lost is a really shit God fest though. -
I had been wondering about Aquarius, ads look good.

Am almost half way through Orphan Black and also started Orange is the new black (latest season of both) -

Enjoyed the first episode. It has potential.
-
We've signed up for Netflix. It's awesome.
