Nepia - have you tried Legit? Only a couple of seasons but a great watch. Veep isn't too bad either. You've probably seen The League?

Oldie but a goodie is Green Wing.

On a not exactly comedy note, I'm about to finish The Newsroom and reckon it's brilliant. If you haven't seen it, get on it, great viewing. I got halfway through episode one years ago and thought it was boring so shelved it...until it was all I had left on my tablet about a month ago, hardly watched anything else since.

Started on The Messengers... Think I'm going to ditch it, maybe I need to watch it with my vagina but it hasn't really piqued my interest.

Speaking of which - Aquarius (Duchovny) is also very good. Hank as a cop but slightly less outta control.

White Collar is a bit of a guilty pleasure in the something stupid and easy to watch category.

And lastly....I'm not having a bleat but I come in this thread mainly to see what's good to watch. Kinda ruins it if people give up on spoilers.

Lost is a really shit God fest though.

Nothing on True Detective S2? Third episode, slow as slow, just a filler. Liked the first for character development, 2nd for .......... And 3rd as I said just a bit of a filler

Worst episode so far. Almost comically bad. I liked how the first two were building with the interplay between dodgy cop, PTSD cop and daddy issues cop* and the little tidbits.

Hannibal S3 is on now. Apparently there definitely won't be a fourth. :(

Ray Donovan S3 has started too. Late to this so I'm catching up.

Also started watching Penny Dreadful which is better than I thought it would be.

Bit of an acquired taste I think that series, I have just finished the latest season, went a bit darker and more supernatural.

Finished Orphan Black, still enjoying it although think it is on the slide, unsure how long they can keep it up, then theres chucking new versions of the clones when they need to as well.

These awards are more a popularity contest than a reflection of actual performances. I have seen plenty of brilliant performances go unrecognised, standard ones get awarded because of the popularity of the show, and other awards bestowed years after the best work that got them attention in the first place.

Take Tatiana Maslany as an example. This season wasn't her best (or maybe we are getting too used to her skill), yet she gets a lead nomination after being badly overlooked in the last two years.

There are shows there way past their prime like Homeland and Downton, but they have big fan bases or recognisable stars that will add to the event.

Among it all is actually the odd few good rewards for good work, like Bob Odenkirk or Taraji P. Henson. But Emilia Clarke?

I like Rectify but I'm not sure I'd put it on the top 5 and I can clearly see why the voters wouldn't select it. They'd get one or two episodes to watch to make a decision and that show would make little sense that way.
