Windies cricket fell because of administration fighting over money. That simple. The theory that windies youngsters were ignoring cricket for basketball in USA is totally wrong, as how can a jamaican compete with yanks growing up playing street ball.

Yeah - that basketball theory never sounded very credible to me.

I think England also stopped taking as many West Indians into county cricket and so that training ground somewhat dried up as well.

Just spent a week with Gordon Greenidge

Best bowlers, lilee and Marshall. Had to be very cautious against Hadlee. Ashley mallet, best finger spinner. Abdul Qadir best spin bowler in his time.

Team he loved to beat most, England.

Lara great bat, no real leadership qualities.
Chris Gayle, great guy, not selfish. Had no choice to go t20 because he simply wasn't being paid by windies

Overall an outstanding man and possibly cooler than viv 😉.

Still playing at age 67! And loves a drink and a yarn.

    Shameless name drop over....

Lara thing doesn't surprise me at all. It's amazing how often sports teams make the mistake of thinking the best player is also the best choice to be captain.

    Shit we're lucky with KW.

@Siam So - since no-one else is asking and I'm sure you're looking for minimal prompting 🙂 - what were you doing with Gordon?

@Paekakboyz Tied him up for a seven day breakfast? Poor old Gordon's going to have eaten a hell of a lot of pancakes, while he figured out how to get out of that basement! 🙂

@Chris-B cricket tournament in Thailand. Funny thing was he was late and people thought perhaps not coming. I was hungover to fuck at breakfast and couldn't talk hungover and sitting miles away from people. Big Gord arrives and sits at my table. Breakfast with a legend and couldn't actually speak.

God I wished @jegga was there to take over!

Three LBWs so far, very reminiscent of the visiting team's scorecard in the days when there were not mutual umpires, particularly on the sub continent. One slight difference, all these three today have been utterly plumb.

I’ve only been watching since the 3rd wicket.

It’s not a minefield. The ball is swinging around a little and Ireland have bowled a good line.

England have recovered to a certain extent to take the score to 67 for 9.

Using the slope as well. They're saying Murtagh has a few wickets here playing for Middlesex so he knows how to put it in the right areas.
