@Rancid-Schnitzel They hinted at it in the last film.
Look, I find it stupid as well, but the key is to include things like this and still have an entertaining film and make it incidental to the plot. It shouldn't be a marketing strategy either.
If they really want to normalise reactions to gay people, or other race representation in movies, then it should just include them and not make a big deal about it.
That means having a good story and an entertaining film. I think Tiaka can deliver that without beating us over the head with woke bullshit.
Fundamentally I have zero problems with it if it's done to enhance the narrative or create a cool character. But if it's all about virtue signalling and being woke first and entertainment second then it's never going to end well.
Yep that's the difference. I was watching that Shazam movie with the Mrs last week and thought it was f'n weird how outta nowhere they had to mention the fat kid liked cock (ok not so much in those words) I dunno if he is gay in the comic series or even if there is a comic series but it had nothing to do with the plot, just a random out of nowhere weird ass virtue signal. "Hey fellow gays, this movie is for you too!"
I mentioned it to the Mrs (her bro is gay and she's pretty sensitive to those sort of issues) and she thought maybe it was just so gay folk could also identify with superhero. I guess that is their plan but..It's pretty damn shallow and just says that gay folk lack the humanity to identify with anyone who doesn't have their sexual preference. It's not inclusive it's actually really divisive.
I'm not black but I identified with Will Smith of the Fresh Prince growing up (same ears). I ain't gay or a gangster but I talked like Omar for a bit after watching 'The Wire'. I'd imagine most gay folk have no issue with identifying with movie characters even when their preference for a particular type of genitalia isn't spelt out.
Really hope capitalism bites this woke insanity in the ass.
I recently mentioned the classic crap but great film No Retreat No Surrender. Like probably millions of white kids, the main character had Bruce Lee posters all over his bedroom walls. How incredible that a white kid could identify with an Asian. Shocking. Amazingly enough, the same thing applied to Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, Prince etc etc and I'll bet every single guy on TSF wanted to be Jonah Lomu in 1995. Fark I still want to be Jerome Kaino. Going out on a limb, but I don't think making Valkyrie or 007 or Superman a lesbian poc will make a jot of difference to how people perceive this group, insofar as they actually give a shit about colour or sexuality in the first place. More likely people will see it for what it is, just a weak attempt at virtue signalling.
I wanted to be Steve Pokere, I'm about as good with money as he is. Does that count?
I wanted to be john kirwan. But I wasn't any good at rugby, and that made me sad.
Soooooo, kinda?

Oh , and movie looks pretty sweet
Hmmmmm I think I'd be more excited about a Shaun of the Dead sequel.
Only if Simon Pegg gets slowly eviscerated in the opening scene. I find him as irrationally irritating as the Harry Potter twat .

I can't stand Jesse Eisenberg as an actor but really enjoyed the first Zombieland. This one looks like fun too.

I feel the same about Jesse whats his name so I don't think we're gonna agree on this.

I can get the Jesse loathing but I thought he was good in the first one . Not an Emma Stone fan either but really enjoyed her in the first one .
On a similar note watching Daniel Radcliffe getting machine gunner to death in My Boy Jack is probably my favourite role of his . For some reason Netflix keeps suggesting Swiss Army man to me and it looks awful bloody awful
-
@jegga Radcliffe is a good actor, but some of the roles he gets, he is wrong (not to mention he is Harry Potter, I mean Harry potter going to war, or Harry Potter as a tough FBI agent up against Nazis...fluck off)

Absolutely hate that twunt. He's been in some decent flicks, but my hate for him never dissipates.
This guy also annoys the s out of me.

Aw come on now. He was great fun in Step Brothers.
Besides for hateability no one will ever beat Adam Sandler.

Hmmmm. Sandler has delivered alot of shit in recent years but he's fairly low on the hate scale imho. Steve Martin shits me.

yep, most of his recent stuff seems to be done to keep his retirement fund ticking over, but some of his older stuff was great and are shit load of others I dislike more than Sandler...Will Ferrell for example, but still find a few of his movies funny.
As to ones I refuse to watch: Hugh Grant, Sarah Jessica-Parker....

Apparently his Netflix movies have huge viewership which is why he has a contract with them I guess.
For ages I couldn't watch Nicole Kidman in anything and I really don't like Clive Owen who is a charisma vacuum and I'm completely confused as to how he has a career.
As a non Harry Potter watcher I don't have a problem with the actor in other stuff I've seen him in.

For years I saw her as a one dimensional ginger still riding bmx. But lately I've grown to appreciate she can act a little better than I gave her credit for.
I used to think the same about her diminutive ex-husband too, until I saw Collateral. Tom can act.

I don't think I had a problem with her acting (never had an issue with Cruise) and I didn't have an issue with the younger version (BMX Bandits, Bangkok Hilton etc) - but there was just something about her I didn't like that made her unwatchable for me in the late 90s until about a year again. In saying that I wont seek out her films now, but I wont not watch them because she's in it like I have in the past.

@Nepia I used to dislike Peirce Brosnan, but post 007 he has done some great roles (similar genre)
Harry is a very good actor, but I guess he is Harry playing other parts
Emma Watson on the other hand, no longer Hermoine
