The Board is really doing what it needs to do. Our future is bright at last - I think we will continue to be on the upswing ... we're finally becoming a credible destination for talent.

@nzzp Getting the back office right is the only way to prevent the groundhog day bullshit we've had to endure.

New board, new ceo, sorting out the ownership, and getting better coaches all adds up. That's how you can get a marquee All Black to join your franchise, and keep your talent.

Yes, it is all rather disappointing. 🙂

I fear that we will no longer be able to mock Auckland like the past decade. Very disappointing. Although we haven't seen the replacement CE (or have we?) so there is still hope!

Hammett is probably due a promotion to CEO level.

                    @Hooroo

                    You are confused

The Blues are a franchise that was until recently run by a Hamilton politician. With talent identification done by a former Waikato coach

                    The Blues are not Auckland

                    This is Auckland

No Confusion, Blues will always be Auckland and Canes always Wellington and Crusaders always Canterbury etc etc to me.

NPC is a non entity as far as I am concerned with following rugby

                              Tab: Cant, Ta$man then Auckland

I would say Ta$man favourites with it too close to call for second favourite

@Duluth Don't be blaming Waikato for Hanks. He is an Aucklander who only ended up at Waikato through his association with Gatland at Wasps.

Not very inclusive there. You could have taken this piss out of several other NPC teams (that didn't win as well - like Waikato for example). Yes Duluth, live it up while we can.

Anyway the BoP Chiefs might be better with a better coach next year too (we are just really having a proper clean out in AKL).

Just in case one of you talented go getters is up for a challenge:-
                                      BLUES – CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

BLUES HQ – Auckland, New Zealand

                                      ABOUT THE BLUES

The Blues are a Professional Rugby Union team based in Auckland, New Zealand that competes in the Super Rugby competition. They are one of the most successful teams in Super Rugby history, having won the competition in its first two seasons, 1996 and 1997, and again in 2003. Additionally, the team were finalists in 1998 and semi-finalists in 2007 and 2011.

When rugby became professional in 1996, New Zealand’s five Super Rugby teams were owned by the NZRU and managed by boards representing the provincial rugby unions in each team’s region. 2013 brought about the beginning of a new era for the Blues with NZR offering a licence to operate the club until 2020.

The resulting new structure is a separate limited liability partnership involving the Auckland, North Harbour and Northland Provincial Unions. NZ Rugby currently holds the remaining shares but in the future, is likely to introduce a new private investor for the Blues.

A deep empathy and passion for high performance sport, in particular rugby union will be important as well as the ability to deal with a high level of public scrutiny.

This is a rare opportunity to lead one of New Zealand’s highest profile sporting brands to ensure sustainability, profitability and high-performance excellence on and off the field.
