Log in to your account, should be able to see how you got on in the latest ballot.

I got all the ABs playoff games, assuming they win their group.

And Japan v Russia, the opening game, and Japan v Scotland.

    Sorted!

Karma for my gloating when I got every single game I applied for in 2015?

I have tickets to 3 games, one All Blacks game (NZ vs Italy). Road trips with the lads from this town I live in Japan. Should be a good time.
I am afraid the stadiums will be shit though. Many have tracks round the outside and you will be absolutely miles away from the action. Will kill the atmosphere at the games like the Bledisloe Cup game I went to in Tokyo at the Olympic Stadium. Couldn't see a damn thing so vowed never to see a game there again. Thankfully, they have had the games at the national stadium since then and that is a small, intimate field.

Didn't know where else to post this.

Teams and supporters at next year's Rugby World Cup have been warned that they need to cover tattoos in public to avoid causing offence.

Players have been asked by World Rugby to wear rash vests when they use public gyms or swimming pools as tattoos are associated in Japan with Yakuza, the Japanese mafia.

They are also to be told that they need to respect local culture by wearing different footwear indoors from outdoors. Alan Gilpin, the tournament director, said teams had shown no objection when told about the need to cover tattoos.

                    .
                    More related to this thread:

World Rugby, meanwhile, has made contingency planning for disruption to the fixture schedule at the World Cup with a possible extension of the pool stages if the tournament were to be hit by the sort of extreme weather that has afflicted the country in recent weeks.

Typhoons and earthquakes similar to those that have struck in recent weeks would almost certainly lead to relocation of teams. Contingencies have been drawn up for the postponement of matches.

"It is a complex piece [of logistics] and this one has a heightened sense of realism to it," said Gilpin.

"With the weather events that have taken place in Osaka, during the equivalent time next year, Italy and the USA would just be arriving in team camps that would no longer be available in those conditions.

"There has also been an earthquake in Sapporo, where matches are being played on the first weekend where teams like Australia and England would have been arriving.

"We are working through all scenarios. Japan, though, does cope very well. Their venues and hotels are built to withstand incredibly adverse conditions."

Ferners, Have secured tickets to Yokohama and thinking about which area of Tokyo to stay in. Have only been there on way to Hokkaido, so want to soak up some of the atmosphere, whilst also haing easy journeys to (and much more important) from rugby.

                      @gt12 or others: any pointers?

Lots of dodgy little bars and alleys, yakitori joints, lots of neon signs. It's is how I think of Tokyo

Budget dependent, I'm a big fan of Shinjuku, but for train access to the Yokohama games plus main sites, Shibuya is a good option (anywhere on the Toyoko line is good for this). You can go as far up as Ikebukuro as the Fukutoshin lines runs through there.

I'd also be tempted to stay in Yokohama and catch the Shinkansen one stop to Shin Yokohama - definitely one for people with the rail pass (but you'd need to be doing other traveling to make that worth while).

Also, staying in Yokohama is nice - look in the Minato Mirai area.

When organising I looked at Yokohama. Accomodation was uber expensive and much fewer to choose from than Tokyo. You might want to take what you can get

Yeah, those places aren't cheap at the best of times.

If pressed, I think people could also stay down in Shizuoka and catch the Shinkansen up, or out in Chiba (or Kanagawa) and catch the Yokosuka line into town.

I'd also look at Super Hotels, APA, and other business hotels - there is probably still some availability around Tokyo for those, although not the easiest for travel, I imagine.

My mate wants to ride the bullet train (no he isn't 5 years old!!!). Am I correct that there is a bullet train that you can take from Tokyo to Yokohama? I planned to go down there in the morning of game day on the Shinkansen, enough to satisfy him

Yep, get a non-reserved ticket and ride two stops to Shin Yokohama. You could save a few pennies and ride from Shinagawa too.

I should mention that you probably won't break 70 kms on that stretch.

I don't care, I took it down to Kyoto last time. I don't want to spend the day riding trains this time. I won't tell if you won't 😉 We are going to have JR passes anyway so it's all covered. Alternatively can you suggest a desirable destination to go on the bullet, no more than 2 hours outside Tokyo?

Budget dependent, I'm a big fan of Shinjuku, but for train access to the Yokohama games plus main sites, Shibuya is a good option (anywhere on the Toyoko line is good for this). You can go as far up as Ikebukuro as the Fukutoshin lines runs through there.

I'd also be tempted to stay in Yokohama and catch the Shinkansen one stop to Shin Yokohama - definitely one for people with the rail pass (but you'd need to be doing other traveling to make that worth while).

Also, staying in Yokohama is nice - look in the Minato Mirai area.

Thanks, will take a look. Bear in mind I've not hung out before in Tokyo, so want somewhere which is also convenient to 'see the sights'.! 🤓
