Gone off due to rain and bad light, unlikely to return till tomorrow, so 1 day to score a few more and then bowl them out. Or, maybe we declare overnight and try to clean them out quickly and score whatever is left.

I can see why Watling doesn’t get picked for shorter forms. Bloody frustrating watching him unable to lift the run rate. Great innings but we need runs to save this series and blocking when they were going to stop for light at any time...Didn’t really farm the strike to CDG either.

Karunaratne and Dickwella are both struggling with injuries and they've been two of Sri Lanka's best. If we can get a full day's play in we're half a chance.

Been a funny series, where we've probably been the better team most days but Sri Lanka have had two really good innings that made the difference.

187 off maximum of 91 overs.

Generous. Hand is forced so I understand that, but this target could bite us in the arse, on a pitch that's been covered a lot.

Could be another great finish, monsoon permitting.

    We've only batted once.

49 runs off five overs and now we've got them 18/3 (from 15 overs), including Mathews - one of the big wickets.

    Stay away rain!

The BCs are such a tease. Get them to 6 or 7 down early in the afternoon and I'll be interested....

    Maybe.

I'm not sure modern cricketers are good at batting patiently for time any more. Slow scoring seems to put them into an uncomfortable mental situation.

I agree. Our bowlers suck, the pitch is dead, and it'll be a soulless draw marked by dropped catches and umpires refusing to give anyone out.

In general I agree with you. But Karunaratne (just come to the crease) is coming off a beautiful patient knock in these conditions. Maybe his injury will hold him back.
