Great catch by Rosco off Timmy. 8 down. Getting a bit of a chub

    Steady on.

Unless Skygo is on a hell of a delay, they're only 7 down.

Definitely in a winnable position, but cricket can be a funny old game!

Why was Dickwella trying to score off the third ball of the over?

Anyway, great catch Latham. MOTM for sure

Tommy, reminiscent of his old man entering the backline oddly enough for me, with a very very well taken catch. Dickwella too

Brilliant - I wasn't expecting that after the amount of rain this test has had!

Awesome stuff. Can't have been long until they would have called bad light. The Black Caps kept going and got their rewards.

Great stuff - well done Black Caps.

Rain tried to deny us, but too dominant - plus Sri Lanka annoyed me yesterday evening when they were wasting time and clearly trying to play as little cricket as possible.

Great win. Deserved win, too. Latham, Watling, and CdG really stood up with the bat and Southee bowled well.

In saying that though, some of those top order guys need to head for some net sessions. By his own sky-high standards, Kane had a pretty miserable test time.

Turned on the coverage to see the last 3 wickets fall. A great catch from Latham to dismiss Dickwella, and excellent contributions from all the NZ bowlers. Surprised that BJ was the player of the series. Latham probably more deserving.

Latham’s record is absolutely nuts for an opener - 79 innings at 44 with 15 fifties and 10 hundreds. On track to be one of our best ever.

Awesome win after the disappointment of the first test. We have a bloody strong side in all forms at the moment, definitely a golden era by Black Caps standards.

That dismissal in this test showed he hadn't snapped out of one-day mode - that's his bail out single to 3rd man which doesn't work so well with 2 slips in place.

At 126-4 with so much time lost, that is an extraordinary victory, set up by Latham and the perpetually stubborn BJ - still didn't think they could rip through the Lankans on the last day though.

BJ has 17 100+ partnerships now - all of them for the 5th wicket or lower. Plus 90+ with Craig, Brownlie, Kane and Sodhi. Of the 17, 6 times the partnership started with the total below 100.

    McCullum 3
    Williamson 2
    Taylor 2
    Nicholls 2
    de Grandhomme 2
    Latham 1
    Neesham 1
    Boult 1
    Henry 1
    Southee 1
    Anderson 1

@KiwiPie BJ is clutch. Kind of like some of the Aussie wicket keepers - it wasn't that they scored heaps of runs, it's that they did when they were really needed to influence a game. Haddin (spits) and Healey both seemed to be like that.

Absolutely delighted with this win. Winning overseas, even against Sri Lanka, is really tough. They have some real worries around batting and (illegal) bowling, but for us to get up overseas is fantastic. Also delighted for Latham. He has quietly been compiling a world class record un-noticed by many as we can collectively get stuck on 'black caps suck' mode.

The crazy thing about Watling is how uncomfortable he looks coming in at 300/4 compared to how assured he is at 50/4. He reminds me of VVS Laxman in that way. Both guys who only seem to perform when the rest of the top order fails.

So stoked with this win. After they were 5 down I thought the light or maybe some late rain would see it end prematurely. But these guys have foight!! Great to see Latham bounce back strongly after a shocking run in ODI's - we know now he thought he was actually playing test cricket all along!! Hopefully Kane clicks that he's playing 20/20's next week and doesn't roll out some test match play.

Bank those points lads and well done on retaining the #2 spot!
