Movie review thread...

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: I straight up thought this was a great movie.
I can see why some people might not like it as it doesn't appear to be plot driven and I know two people who have no knowledge of the Manson murders so it made little sense to them.
It's very talky and it has quite rambling scenes (hmmm, I'm just describing Tarantino full stop) but I think it's a disservice to not acknowledge that they actually do build towards the climax.
There's only one scene and characterisation that I thought was bad, has a famous martial artist and the scene seems a bit stupid and the actor is straight up terrible.
4.5 flame throwers out 5 I don't like pet names but I can see you're going through something so we'll deal with that later.

Marvel Spiderman dead?
Surely Sony aren't that retarded?

Sounds like they are. Disney only get 5% from that last film.
So if I was Tom Holland’s agent I’d be getting him out of there ASAP.

Pulp Fiction is fucking amazing
The best Tarantino film by far
Probably. But in saying that every single other one apart from the awful Death Proof have some sensational scenes and dialogue.
Low benchmark for me. I doubt I'd have a Tarantino film in my top 100 films.

Agree, although he wrote True Romance and I really liked that

Godzilla -King of Monsters.
Well, it was a movie about big arse monsters....apparently Godzilla is kinda a good guy now too.
Plus, like the last King Kong, who didn't make a cameo appearance' Godzilla is bigger.
Any who, 2.5 resurrections out of 5 phew, look, we are safe in NZ.

Looks good, Casey Affleck trying to stop men being predatory towards women is a bit far fetched though.
A good watch.
Slow but engaging.

Couple of older ones
Shock and Awe
Story of a couple of journalists who never bought the Iraq WMD line from day one, and reported it constantly but no one listened.
It's not bad, but ultimately it just isn't a good enough story to make a movie about. There is zero payoff, and it just sort of ends. I hoped for more because I like those type of moviesDen of Thieves
Heist movie that tries very hard to be better movies. The director wants to be Michael Mann. And it wants to be Heat. And they were quite taken with the ending of The Usual Suspects.
Also I think Gerard Butler has half the lines in the movie.
Watch if hungover and bored. -
Falling Inn Love. (The NZ-set Netflix one)
Yikes. Ok, scenery is gorgeous, and a bunch of ex-Shorties got a paycheque. Other than that, ummmmmm. If you took a shot for every NZ slang term shoehorned in, you would die. The plot is beyond ridiculous (one contractor and one newbie renovate an entire derelict two-storey BnB...in two months.) Also, the small town folk do shit like offer a foreigner 90 day store credit to rack up bills to pay for renovation supplies. And they are all clumsy.
Don't even bother with this, it's not fit to smooch Always Be My Maybe's boots. Unfunny, terrible dialogue, idiot plot is not saved by aforementioned gorgeous scenery and a few cute moments.

But are there tits? That's the clincher for this audience.
