@Crucial That survey was about the Mitre 10 Cup, not Super Rugby

fucking shithouse! Because for half the season that is 4pm here,

I was about to complain ... but I don't work on Fridays so that's irrelevant to me although the sun will be streaming in during that time and I hate closing the blinds. TBH, I much prefer Aussie times for NZ matches as I can head out for dinner when they finish.

I still haven’t got used to the kick off time for friday games being 7:30pm in Nz after moving over here a couple of years ago. I always go to sit down on the sofa and turn the game at 5:30 and realise i have another 2 hours to wait.

The best Fridays are when it's a match in NZ at 5:30pm and then a NZ team is playing in Oz at 7:30pm - although I have to Uber eats or deliveroo for dinner on those nights.

January is way too early for Super Rugby. Why does it need to start so early? Worst thing is it comes off the back of a world cup where players need more rest.

@hydro11 Yep. The consequence of the early start will be that most ABs won't be available for the first few rounds of SR. Exactly what we didn't like about SR this year (unavailability of the best players), will happen again in the beginning of next season.

Press release I saw said the early starts is offset by a longer than usual off season because of the RWC.

The early start is weird and probably going to be a failure (ratings wise) but given the choice between the early start or the international break I'd take the early start.

All academic next year when the format changes.

@Stargazer Unless we are knocked out in the q.finals - then they could be on holiday from October 21st!
Even if we make the final on Nov 2 they have nearly 3 months until the Jan 31 start. Its not like a northern tour that goes into December.

Nah it is opposite, off season is longer in RWC years. Final is 2nd Nov, rather than last game end of Nov. 3 extra weeks. SR finishes an extra week before the July Tours meaning it's not SR final then 1st Tour game the weekend after next year.

That said hopefully 2021 and no Sunwolves will be better!

So next year every team has gotten a lotttttt worse except for the chiefs and blues. Could be a massive power shift with the South Island struggling and the north island getting a lot better. Although I must say even tho the crusaders have gotten a lot worse, they’ve still got soooo much talent so they just drop from wayyyyy better than everyone else to just better than everyone else I expect

Damn, he was one of my preferred candidates for replacing Scott Robertson if he went on to the big job.

He was passed over before, probably felt it was time to do something about it

@Yeahtheboys I would argue that despite the loss of Beaudy, we are stronger than last year.

Our set-piece will be better with the addition of Lomax / Scrafton, our loose forwards match anyone in the competition and our backs, well they can score points from anywhere.

I'm expecting the Canes to once again challenge for top of the conference, especially with the experienced players the Crusaders have lost.

    Conference predictions:

    1. Crusaders
    2. Canes
    3. Chiefs
    4. Blues
    5. Landers

@canefan we don't know yet. Apparently they have signed someone, but haven't disclosed who that is yet. Probably a ho hum signing tbh.

At this stage, the leading candidate is probably Fletcher Smith.

If it was someone notable you would think they'd be trumpeting it from the rooftops. Unless they are still working out a contract release for a really good player... 🙏

@canefan I hope you are right. Then again, anyone we sign is probably a downgrade, unless it's Mo'unga or Sexton
