Fuck talking about Aliens takes me back, my younger brother and I must have watched the VHS of that after school and weekends every day for about 2 years. It was when it came out in '86.
The movie scared the shit out of me when I first saw it but then realised it was the fucken coolest thing ever made ( Star Wars was long gone so I was desperate for sumthing to fill the void)
I pity kids today ( and the last few years) all they get to watch is just shit. Twilight ffs

When I was a kid, the local video store had a school holiday "Two videos for $5 as long as you return them by 5pm" deal. So many Chuck Norris movies were watched.

When I was a kid I was afraid to walk through the horror aisle past all those lurid boxes. But that time I snuck a peak at the back cover of No Man's Land Part II in the porno section ...

I was lucky enough to to grow up with a dad who couldn't see the problem with making his 9 year old son watch family classics like The Exorcist, Halloween, Jaws, An American Werewolf in London...

First VHS movie we saw was Raiders of the Lost Ark
Is early 1970s to say mid 80's just the coolest period in movie history?

Exorcist was a freak out I remember. A major freakout

Remember those "Killing Asia" vids? First time we saw real death on a screen. Now the kids have been desensitized to all that stuff (I think)

edit: or was it "Shocking Asia"?

When I was 6 a friend of mine came round with a video his mum had let him rent, Commando. It was the R rated version where the dude gets his arm cut off. I think I was too young to be freaked out. Watched "this really funny film about Aliens" at the same friend's place a couple of years later. That was Aliens, which freaked me out far more.

The ads for Arachnophobia also scared the shit out of me. I guess that was because a farking evil little spider could get you anywhere at any time.

Just seeing pictures of Freddy Kruger used to give me nightmares.

Sunday Mutha fucken Night Horrors, how cool were they. Every week would get the Listener ( is that still around?) and would immediately go to Sunday and check to see what was on that night.

You couldnt go past 2 things in the 80's as a kid, Star Wars and anything Speilberg had a hand in. Goonies, Gremlins, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, E.T, Poltergeist and probably a fuck ton more im missing.
