Cheers guys,

Will check out Fargo and Terriers.

Sorry Nepia, maybe girlie wasn't the right word exactly, tried watching it with my Mrs at the time who loved it but I just couldn't identify with it..unlike zombies, dragons and drug dealers in baltimore... Will check out Justified. Weirdly enough I did like the first season of Desperate housewives so I probably shouldn't be calling anyone girlie.

Seen Generation Kill, Deadwood and True Detective and if I had remembered them they all probably would have featured in my top 10.

I really want to like Fear the walking dead, it just seems to be lacking something, the quality difference between the final of that and the first episode of the new Walking dead series was pretty stark, will still be tuning into it, hopefully I'll start liking the characters a bit more and maybe it will catch up
-

I second The Americans. Fantastic show that gets better as it goes.

Not sure if it fits your bill Rembrant, have you tried Orphan Black? Has some patchy periods and the story gets a bit convoluted after a while, but it is still a good watch.

If you don't like cheese then I guess Banshee is out of the question, but is you can watch it for the pulp fiction that it is, then it is hugely entertaining.
-

The Americans and Justified are both excellent

I thought the first 2 episodes were excellent, intensity dropped off a fair bit after that.
-

You can't identify with a guy who drinks and shags a lot? ;)
-
Walking Dead has been excellent so far after a disappointing 5th season. Fear the Walking Dead is interesting, but every single character apart from the NZ dude is annoying and I would have no problem seeing them die. The kids in particular need to be killed off asap.

Watching Ballers as well. Entertaining enough but expected much better. -

Ballers is okay. It's not that funny )other than the white dude) and some is pretty depressing (seeing players lost when they retire). Still, titties...

Narcos is good, really enjoying the way the story is told
-
The nudity on Ballers decreased as the series progressed and lost credibility with for that reason.

I liked ftwd , it's a slow burn watching them suddenly realise the world they know is gone forever and I think the black dudes character they introduced towards the end had lots of potential . -

It took me ages to work out what bothered me about Fear WD. Nobody seems to be freaking out that people are turning into fucking zombies.

They basically shrug it off and seem at worst inconvenienced by the apocalypse.

That and it's not as cinematic and creepy as the original show. Also, the original season of WD was a short run too, but each episode was jam packed. FWD had a lot of filler.

Meh. -

I tried to tell my wife it was more a documentary, kinda like a what if...plenty of learnings from it (of what not to do)

I already have my new home lined up should the inevitable Zombie apocalypse occur here, although I guess it all depends what type of Zombie, if your stock standard walking dead Zombie, I'm sweet!
-

I never got into WD and can't be arsed catching up. The whole zombie thing doesn't float my boat.

However given it's popularity and supposed quality I thought I would try FWD, especially as it had Cliff Curtis, who is usually good value.

Gave up real quick as it was slow, tedious, Curtis' character is a wuss and he speaks too quietly and mumbles. I guess this is a deliberate character development thing, he will transform over time from a meek, mumbling pussy into a kick ass zombie killer, but I cant be bothered waiting for that ride.
-

Excellent point. The wife in particular has experienced some seriously deranged shit (being attacked by her boss turned zombie for example), but as you said, she just seems more perturbed than anything else. -

The best part of WD is the zombies aren't the bad guys, people are always the most dangerous thing out there.

FWD isn't a patch on the WD. I'd watch the first season (six episodes), if you aren't hooked after that then it's not for you. My wife hates zombies/scary films and is addicted.
-
I'm not sure how I'd react in the same situation but Curtis character had pretty much complete faith in the govt and that they would return everything back to normal eventually . It wasn't till the last episode he couldn't avoid admitting to himself that the world he knew was gone for good and was going to have to actually fight if he wanted to stay alive .I liked that.
Much in all as I like the gorefest that is twd , the origin story is interesting and I liked the slow build up. -

I'll tell ya what Trump might actually be a decent president in a Zombie Apocalypse...outside of that situation however I could see him actually aiding in causing an apocalypse -

Zombies movies/TV have made us all experts at dealing with them ~ good premise for a movie would be some Alien species knocking off planets by sending in some sort zombie virus that wipes out the intelligent life on planet making the colonisation pretty easy. However, when they try the same shit on earth and land after giving the virus time to wipe us out they are met with a fully functioning society because we are all bloody experts on how to deal with a zombie hoard. Vaccines and Climate not so much.
