    Taskmaster.

Brilliant show, probably better than the below suggests but a decent encapsulation. Bonesetta doesn't usually go in for the comedy panel shows but absolutely loves it too, so double thumbs up.

@Bones Yeah. Great show and Snowyetta loves it too. We have missed all of the early series so will have to find online and go back. I think there are quite a few of them but I had never heard of it.

Been watching it for a couple of years. Great fun in the British tradition of meaningless inanity

There is a NZ version coming out next year which if it is Jeremy Corbett, Guy Williams, Ursula Carlzon etc doesn't bear thinking about

I like how NZ TV are making targeted shows solely designed to offend @jegga .

More laugh therapy ordered for New Zealanders

More laugh therapy ordered for New Zealanders

New Zealand audiences have plenty to laugh about, with a resurgence of comedy shows available on local screens.

I expect after that, they can almost use the same headline again...

@dogmeat yeah I've known of it for a couple of years but never really bothered to watch it. We happened to sit down and watch episode 1 of season 7 a couple of months ago. We're now up to date...

Rose Matafeo is in the latest season.

@Snowy get a VPN, it's on Dave over here so uktv network, free to air.

@RLx31 Finished Marrianne, watched the last 4 episodes with subs and it was much improved. Really good watch, genuinely scary. Interesting ending alright!

I just read they are killing off Guy Williams show and cutting 7 days back to 12 episodes. I see that as a win even though I never watch them .

    Had a show .
To think people laughed at him when he was a kid and said he wanted to be a comedian, well no ones laughing now are they ?

I think I’ve posted that before , don’t care because Guy Williams.

Watched the first episode of the BBC's "The War of the Worlds" - one of my favourite books - with Eleanor Tomlinson & Rafe Spall in lead roles.

Great period detail, but that's about all. Wooden acting, a script which is appalling bad and laughable in places, and CGI/effects lifted badly from Spielberg's 2005 version. Martian tripods are particularly poor - even laughable.

Mrs Meldrew described it as "Poldark Meets The Martians" and she isn't far wrong. Hope it gets better in Ep 2.

@Victor-Meldrew yea was disappointing, TV1 billed it as 'big budget', so assuming (hoping) it was spent in ep2?

    Expect better from BBC.

Poldark sucks arse (well the last 2 seasons anyway)

Finished Pennyworth - was a decent watch, although seems they were struggling with it being between the darker make believe world of Gotham and Batman, and the real world.

I liked the guy who played Alfred, although probably a bit young for the veteran SAS he is supposed to be - probably what James Bond would be like if played by (a young) Michael Caine

Just stumbled upon what looks like a cool series on Sky Cricket (UK) called Mind Games. "A compelling exploration of the mental side of cricket, covering aspects such as confidence, self belief and mental strength."

Looks to feature loads of players.

    I don't.

In the last few years and much of the stuff they churn out is rubbish considering their guaranteed mega-budget. Perhaps that's the cause.

Poldark sucks arse (well the last 2 seasons anyway)

Next season: "Ross Poldark discovers a strange Martian cylinder in Wheal Leisure....."

@Victor-Meldrew while he and George Warleggans argue over ownership of said Martian cylinder, and Ross's pigheadedness ensures they can give whatever the current storyline is, more legs!

Ah ok, ordinarily I think BBC stuff is well done, but then I havent watched as much over the past few years.

Can't think of much "must watch" BBC stuff in the last few years TBH. Nothing edgy, just safe costume dramas - nothing like Luther or The Hour.

    @Bones

They are OK but pretty formulaic. Nothing edgy or fresh like Stranger Things or Breaking Bad. which they used to do a few years back.
