@canefan I was happy with it as in real time it looked like an AB knock-on and on first replay (in the pub) it looked like head to ball and hence offside. So it was exactly what the TMO is for - to check exactly what happened. He did and the try was awarded.

One of the better uses and exchanges I thought.

And the on-field decision was to award a try, so it's not like he was against it initially.

I am sure if I went back it was all good. At the time I was in a heightened state of excitement as one coach used to say

Well I certainly agree with Eddie here

Jones had also hit out at the New Zealand media claiming its rugby reporters are just "just fans with keyboards".

Nah that's exactly what happened. The tmo was saying yes his head hit it (maybe talking about the hand?) and Nigel was saying the same obviously talking about the head hitting the ball. Luckily just before Nige was about to say no try, the tmo quickly explained himself.

I was fascinated to see Owens and Schmidt having a long talk before the game last week (with Schmidt clearly trying to get something across, including gestures about tackling or clean outs). I wondered whether, in any way, that then influenced what he looked for at penalty time.

Hansen didn't bother approaching Owens, although might have said hi.

Hansen and Schmidt had a massive talk too. They look like they are pretty friendly.

When BB scored the try it seemed that Owens was trying everything he could not to award it....it went on and on with the TMO...I think all the accusations and sour grapes from apposing teams that Refs favour the ABs is finally paying off...Owens seemed to be trying hard not to favour the ABs in any way...

What a load of shit!!! Take the tin foil hat off and enjoy the rugby

If that was the case he would have gone all Wayne Barnes and blown his whistle as BB was running down field.

Impressive tackling stats from their pack (Most of the misses came from the backs, particularly 10/12/13)

Also fairly straightforward when the modus operandii of the opposition is one-out running straight at a defender.

The Poms are big, strong lads. They play that style in their Premiership every week. Lapped it up.

Yeah, the English may have have had to defend for most of the game, but the Aussies didn't make doing so very difficult.

@canefan not really, he was watching it on the big screen and thought he saw Reese touch the ball. The TMO had a screen a few inches away and corrected him, they worked together to make the right call.

I remember hearing the exchange, nigel asked if the black player touched the ball during the tackle, the TMO said more than once that he had only to finally correct himself. I dont think he ever thought Reece had touched it but his language was poor. Right decision in the end

Re the BB try I'm pretty certain the law was you're not offside if the ball rebounded off a player that was not playing at the ball.

Reece was attempting a tackle and it initially appeared that the ball may have bounced forward off his head. (Obviously it didn't it as he hit Sex Toy's elbow and the ball went backward off green.)

My query, which is now a moot point but I'm still interested, is if it had hit Reece's head would Mo'unga be offside as Reece did not play at the ball.

My understanding is he would not have been offside. But my understanding may be either out if date, mistaken or both.

                                    Maybe I should ask @Damo.

@booboo pretty sure that's league (not playing at the ball). Otherwise there'd be no such thing as accidental offside.

@Bones and that was what NO was getting clarification for, so have to assume it was relevant.
