Apple TV makes getting US Netflix easy. That's pretty much what i use it for. Handy for renting movies too.

Actually I forgot that you don't need to VPN for US Netflix if you set up a US iTunes account and point your AppleTV to it.
-
Have 2 of them, one in the bedroom for the girls ( and me at night) so easy to use Netflix my 5 year old knows how to use it.
The US one is better -

Had the Apple TV4 demo'ed and it is now the next gadget in the DK household.

Key features for me

Plex TV app

The ability to search using Siri for all movies across your subscriptions, for me Plex (own movie library), iTunes, Netflix. You can have fuzzy searches such as best action movies of the 1990's and it will show the full list across all your sources, you can continue refining them by, only Stallone movies, which refines it further. Select the movie you want to watch and it will give you a choice of source to use.

Pretty good looking Game apps

Remote Control, easy to use (but expensive if you lose or break it)

-

Didnt realise that, ive been subscribing to Unotelly most of the year now. Whats great is you can switch between all 20 odd Netflix territories and pick your preferred content. They even have a website that allows you to search for a particular tv show or movie on Netflix and it tells you which region its available in.

You would be surprised how much fucken Mexico has..
-
I've recently bought a Raspberry Pi 2 for all of my TV and movie watching. Its about the size of a deck of cards and plugs into the hdmi of your tv. Its basically allows any layman the ability to access all those video streams online without running the risk of viruses. Can get pretty much any tv show or movie thats ever come out and even can run international streams including sky sports. Also as an added bonus it can wirelessly play media from any device on your network and can be controlled using your smartphone. Needless to say I just don't download any more now. As to the legality of it well I don't know much about that...

Really really good

That is superb, the behind the scenes episodes are always worth watching too. His cameramen go to extraordinary lengths to get footage for him.
-

Kodi
Works an absolute treat, I cheated and bought it mostly configured though sure I could do it if I had more time/energy -

Yeah that's what I'm using too. Only disappointment so far is lack of Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master but otherwise, it's bloody brilliant. -

I really like MPC-HC with MadVR.

Supports edge directed interpolation methods for upscaling, and 3D LUTs for colour correction.

There is one limitation:

DTS Express cannot be bitstreamed and only be decoded when using the ArcSoft DTS Decoder.

I don't think I've come across DTS Express yet though.
-

On the subject of documentaries, there are 90 minute docos "branded" on the BBC as "Storyville" - I'm yet to watch one that doesn't have me captivated

Recently:

Cartel Wars - Mexicans make Columbians look like a playgroup. Amazing story of Mr Mirales and corruption.

Lockerbie Pan Am bomb - dude whose brother died on that flight investigates who really did it

FBI Undercover - appalling tale of the US being dead set hypocrites, entrapping would be terrorists just to get TV soundbites and preserve their scare-mongering.

Others dealing with fraudulent magicians, killer whales in captivity, Lance Armstrong - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storyville_(TV_series)

Lots of others too, and to my naive mind they do a pretty good job of laying out the facts
-

If you want to watch an engrossing and intense(!) documentary about Mexico and the Cartels, I highly recommend Cartel Land.

Thanks Tim, that's the one I meant. Quite a ride as you see some hope from the Mexican side with a people's militia that takes back land from the cartels ...
