My favourite Sam Fuller film would be big red one, it's semi autobiographical . Some of the background scenes are a bit foley by today's standards but that from that I reckon it holds up well. -

Watched Ant-man over the weekend and whilst it isn't any great masterpiece... It was really good escapist entertainment!

The lead actor, Paul Rudd is very likeable and it had enough humour and action to make it a short 110 minutes of viewing.
-

Watched the Gunman last night. There is lots wrong with it. The hot French chick doesn't get her tits out despite being in various stages of undress most of the movie. Sean Penn looks fucking ridiculous in this movie. He has an awful orange tan, his hair is very obviously dyed. And then he takes his shirt off, and he looks like a fucking wrestler. At least they let Liam Neeson look like an old guy in these roles, this looks like they photoshopped Penn's face on a 30-year old body. Rick Flair looks less ridiculous.

The movie itself is fucking tedious. Apparently people are trying to kill him, but you wouldn't know, because other than the first attack, the only time he appears to be in any danger is when he fucking puts himself there. The bad guy is telegraphed as fuck. The love-triangle was fucking stupid, and thankfully truncated.

And the ending is fucking stupid as well
Why did he contact interpol? He fucking killed everyone that was trying to off him, and then he gets himself arrested. He could have just fucked off back to Africa with his missus, and no jail time.
as for the plot contrivance, that his memory is fucked and he needs to write everything down, jesus that's lazy.

shit movie, skip it
-

That's a cracking film, I came across late night on tv in the 80s (so it was probably only late in that it was 10pm) and thought it was awesome. It was bloody harrowing too.

It was interesting to see Luke in something other than Star Wars too.
-

If you can find the book it's well worth a read, they expand on Hamills mental health issues - he gets made to see a shrink and gets sent back into the front line even though he'd been seen talking to his mates disembodied head. Also there's more about the four horsemen , it pays to have read some of Ambrose books to understand how much life sucked if you were a replacement . Also a couple of Klan members joined up with them, the sergeant took care of one of them pretty quickly .

Toss up for me as to the scene that stuck with me the most, thd boy sniper, the asylum or Luke getting shot at by his own side. -

Awesome, I didn't know it was based on a book - I'll add it to the reading list. Cheers.

Speaking of Star Wars, I see Sky is running all 6 episodes together on a pop up channel! It's great, although I wished they start with 1 rather than 4

No way - wait, do you mean 1 as in Star Wars or 1 as in The Phantom Menace?

You have to watch in the order they were released.
-

is it a free pop up or an add-on with Sky Movies?

Taken 3 was on Sky last night. Preposterous doesn't begin to describe it. Apparently you're allowed force a police officer at gunpoint to drive on the wrong side of the road causing untold damage to dozens of cars and trucks and presumably injuring their drivers, blow up a building and instigate an armed assault that results in the deaths of loads of people so long as you're avenging your ex wife's killer. The police could charge you but they're not going to.

So when's Taken 4 being made?
-

I saw that too, needed more of his daughter in a skimpy outfit like the first one, otherwise excellent levels or carnage and huge plot holes. -

IIRC, they're making a TV series.

I've refused to watch any of the sequels, lest they despoil my memory of the magnificent original.

absolutely this
-
Flew long-haul and saw a few films. Was bloody Emirates so the best parts were probably cut out.

Jurassic World: Good but not great.
Mad Max: Batshit insane. Enjoyed it, but was probably modified to within an inch of its life.
Terminator Genisys: Enjoyed this much more than the previous 2 films. Not bad at all. I assume they edited out Kalisi's jugs?
Hitman: Mehhhh. Eli Roth is a really shit actor.
Started watching that Avenger film, but they really do nothing for me. Just not a fan at all. -

I actually didn't mind it as far as action movies go, because I can cut a film a lot of slack if the action scenes are good. But yeah, what was up with Penn's physique? He must have dedicated a year of his life getting ready for that role.
-

Shadows is good, as is Boy (they both have NZ specific humour - although I think our Oz cuzzies would likely get it), my favourite of his is a short called Tama Tu about a squad of Maori soldiers in WW2.
-
I wasn't that taken by Shadows, had some laughs but overall disappointed.

Speaking of short films, I happened on one called the maul or ruck, is a NZ one, is so bad I thought it was good
