Oh and nice to exorcise the ghost of the Panesar drawn test in Eden Park a few years ago.

Really need a big effort in Hamilton...or 3 days of rain!

There seems to be plenty of draws in cricket with England which have been defeat recently. Many many ghosts!

What kind of comment could it be that NZers don't recognise as racial?

@booboo oh, so I guess Kane doesn't need to apologise on behalf of New Zealanders. Root needs to step up and apologise on behalf of of the English then.

    The plot thickens.

Because just cos you're black doesn't mean you can't be British. The implication being BAME people aren't Brits.

With Archer though, he became eligible after a rule change on residency cutting his time to qualify from 7 to 3 years. He has a UK Passport but only arrived in the UK after turning 18. He will be under scrutiny as a 'ring in' because of that.
Using racist terms to convey that scrutiny isn't the way to do it though.

John Mitchell's son comes into the team with Ferguson

Is Mitch Jr. a good enough bowler at test level to be a like-for-like replacement for Colin?

I'd have thought Jimmy Neesham might have been further up the queue.

@Chris-B I thought Neesham would have been picked too. Mitchell should be more economical than Neesham and tie up an end. He might not play anyway depending on pitch conditions.

I took a guess that he meant Black And Mixed Ethnicity.

Could be wrong though. I've not seen the term before.

    @booboo @Crucial

Classification of ethnicity in the United Kingdom - Wikipedia
A number of terms have been used, by government and more generally, to refer to the collective ethnic minority population. These include "black and minority ethnic" (BME), "black, Asian and minority ethnic" (BAME) and "black and ethnic minority" (BEM)

    Thanks guys.

Did know what it means (but not the actual acronym).

My confusion was more about how being teased for having a passport of seeming convenience was in anyway racial.

I suspect Wags has copped shit for his emigration.

Have my doubts re Mitchell. I just assumed Neesham was injured again.

I know it would upset our bowling plans but I'd be tempted to bring in Ferg for Boult and Young for De Grandhomme.

Especially if there are signs that the Hamilton pitch might turn, and Kane can take on the role of second spinner to further reduce the workload of our the seamers.

Northern Districts allrounder Daryl Mitchell has been confirmed to make his Black Caps test debut at Hamilton on Thursday.

Ross Taylor said at a press conference on Thursday that Mitchell - the son of former All Blacks coach John Mitchell - will be part of the New Zealand XI to face England in the second test. Mitchell was called into the squad this week following an abdominal injury to Colin de Grandhomme suffered late in the first test victory in Mount Maunganui.

A decision has yet to be made on who will replace injured pace bowler Trent Boult in the XI for the second and final test in the series. With Mitchell's inclusion confirmed, it will come down to a choice between swing bowler Matt Henry and quick Lockie Ferguson.
