Does anyone know if there are going to be new Super Rugby jerseys coming out this year? Doesn't seem to be much in store at the moment. History suggests they bring out a new one every 2 years.

All the Kiwi SR rookies of 2020:

Blues (8): Emoni Narawa, Kurt Eklund, Aaron Carroll (Bay of Plenty), Waimana Riedlinger-Kapa (Auckland), Jared Page, Mark Telea, Jack Heighton (North Harbour), Jordan Hyland* (Northland).

Chiefs (9): Bradley Slater*, Kini Naholo, Lisati Milo-Harris (Taranaki), Quinn Tupaea (Waikato), Ryan Coxon* ( Ta$man), Naitoa Ah Kuoi (Wellington), Dylan Nel (Otago), Kaleb Trask (Bay of Plenty), Orbyn Leger* (Counties-Manukau).

Hurricanes (5): Kane Leaupepe* (Bay of Plenty), Xavier Numia* (Wellington), Pouri Rakete-Stones, Devan Flanders, Danny Toala* (Hawke’s Bay).

Crusaders (12): Isi Tuungafasi* (Northland), George Bower* (Otago), Tom Christie, Brodie McAlister*, Cullen Grace, Fergus Burke, Inga Finau, Dallas McLeod (Canterbury), Ethan Roots (North Harbour), Sione Havili*, Fetuli Paea ( Ta$man), Sevu Reece* (Waikato).

Highlanders (12): Jeff Thwaites*, Zane Kapeli (Bay of Plenty), Jona Nareki, Ricky Jackson, Sione Misiloi (Otago), Manaaki Selby-Rickit, Ethan De Groot (Southland), Jesse Parete* (Taranaki), Kirisi Kuridrani** (Counties-Manukau), Teariki Ben-Nicholas, Connor Garden-Bachop (Wellington), Scott Gregory (Northland).

      .

The inclusion of Aaron Carroll in the list of Blues' rookies seems to confirm that he is the replacement of Baden Wardlaw.
      .

It looks like the Canes rookies didn't get the "wear a team shirt" memo :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:

@Stargazer I take it that's just team rookies not actual newbies to super rugby.

@Bones I think it might be full contracts?

HYland was called into Blues in 2018, called into HIghlanders 2019 but this is his first full contract, similarly Reece was only initially injury cover last year wasnt he?

I see Isi Tu'ungafasi listed as Northland, I believe he is now a cantab...

@taniwharugby I think so, too. Danny Toala was signed by the Canes (full contract) for 2020 and 2021 in April, but already played 3 games for them in 2019.

@Daffy-Jaffy How old is that? Surely Scott Robertson should be in those stats (with a high/the highest win%)?

@Stargazer 47 games 39 wins 3 draws ( highlanders game that was cancelled included) 5 losses. So 82.7% if you included highlanders game or 84.7% if you don’t.

Hey lads, I've broken down my thoughts on the chiefs, blues and rebels for 2020. Still working on my editing skills but tried my best - was hard for me to have the confidence to share this.

I don't really have any credentials to my name but I love rugby and placed top 20 in fantasy rugby three years in a row haha.

                  Would appreciate any support!

                      @Ruggy Well done.

                      A couple of constructive comments:
                      (1) Laulala is not a LH prop so he won't ever be wearing the no.1 jersey. Moli and Ross to share the workload on the LH side.
                      (2) Jacobson will be in the no.6 or no.8 jersey, depending on the loose forward mix.

I'm sure you will be getting comments on YT about the "Waikato" Chiefs. 🙂

I like the new Canes jersey, saves me 150 bucks!

Chiefs the best artistically, but not as a rugby jersey. But really average set

I don't mind the designs themselves but seriously question whether their use for purpose is understood.
If you want to create strong fandom and attachment you need to stick to simple colours. The whole reason you have teams called Reds or Blues etc is because that is how fans of other teams described their attachment. Look how gangs will use colours as symbols, or countries in the past with banners and uniforms.

Chiefs need to stick heavily to their yellow, black and red. Blues need to be one shade of Blue not five.
Give fans a reason to wear a collared scarf or hat etc and nail those colours to a mast.

The other stuff is fine for training kit but match kit should be simple

My order of 'best' to spew ugly is as follows

                                      Highlanders
                                      Crusaders
                                      Chiefs
                                      Canes
                                      Blues.

Blues looks like it was designed by a highschool student in the early 00s. Plus the symbolism of broken glass doesn't help.

Their purpose is to be sold. So they need to be clearly differentiated from year to year and stand out on the rack in a shop that probably has at least a dozen different sport teams and probably more.
