Anyone up for a juicy conspiracy theory??

    Good.

    Thought so.

Cast your mind back to the Ashes.

As a reminder, Steve Smith gets hit in the head on day 4, 2nd test, but continues batting that day.

Day 5 he's evaluated as concussed and Marnus makes history as the first sub batsman. Aus battle for a draw, after sucking the hind tit.

Thing is, if you remember, Archer also hits Smith on the elbow in a nasty blow.

My sauces, an overseas reporter and an Australian man close to the team, both claim that ol' smudgey couldn't lift or grip the bat on the 5th morning....

    Can't use a sub for a sore elbow/wrist.

Like all good sickies, the trick is to take 2 days off, not one. Smith misses the next test, ( which Aus would have comfortably won if not for Stokes' once in a century performance).

    So there you have it.

Elbow or "delayed" concussion - after batting on??

I know it all sort of breaks down when you realise that Australia would never ever bend rules to suit, and it's just not in their culture....

Pretty good as far as conspiracies go wouldn't you say??? 🤔

Unlike Oscar Pistorius, it's got legs! 😀

That's a rubbish comparison to 'cheating' conspiracy comments

The conspiracy would have more legs if the ball that felled Smith wasn't so brutal, and the fact that he came out at the end and batted like a man who'd just downed 8 or 9 tequila shots before leaving one on 90-odd hitting middle and middle.

What I'm trying to say here is, how dare you try and talk shit about an all-time CHAMPION of the game who's an Aussie and would never stoop so low as to fake an injury against the POMS and sit out a game while his Aussie BROTHERS battle on without him.

I agree with this. That ball absolutely smoked him.

In days gone by he would have batted with a headache the next day or when ever it was but now the science says not to.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED! that anyone in professional sport would even CONSIDER using concussion laws to their advantage. That idea has never, EVER, come up before.

    shocked

Is this a different person to the one with the very same name that got a one year ban for being invovled in the ball tampering cheating episode?

    Tim Paine didn't quite agree:

Tim Paine: [Smith] is OK. Really nasty knock, he felt OK yesterday, but woke up not feeling at his best so the decision was made to leave him out. Steve passed all his tests, he deteriorated overnight, he re-tested, they weren't as good this morning, and the professionals made that call. He'll need to improve [to play at Headingley] but too early to tell.

    Sick note 😉

@NTA wondering why they declared before letting Warner make 400

Game to win. Weather forecast looking dodgy.

    Clearly wanted second place.

The "maybe they don't want Warner to have the record" comment smacked of conspiracy.

Lol, plenty of others are questioning this decision, too..

Warner mentioned in the same breathe as Brian Lara? Nah sorry

BBL - Match at Manuka called off between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers due to poor visibility, aka smoke from the fires. Quite apocalyptic and then the wind died off so the haze remained.
