Shadows is good, as is Boy (they both have NZ specific humour - although I think our Oz cuzzies would likely get it), my favourite of his is a short called Tama Tu about a squad of Maori soldiers in WW2.

I wasn't that taken by Shadows, had some laughs but overall disappointed.

Speaking of short films, I happened on one called the maul or ruck, is a NZ one, is so bad I thought it was good 🙂

    Just found it meh.

Yes ok we all knew Coin was a baddie I had hoped for a better way for Katniss to deal with her rather than stoop to that level.

Gale to become a baddie, well ruthless baby murderer, out of nowhere?

Peeta to become the love of her life. Fuck they were two seriously unlikeable characters so frankly probably deserved each other.

Zombies for fuck sake?

Prim dieing?[/spoiler]

Pretty disappointing

It was a bit average, those aren't zombies apparently . Like the dog creatures in the first one they are people weaponised by the govt .

Shadows was brilliant. Awesome to see him get this gig, but I doubt even he can save it from the shit that is "looks the part but can't act" Hemsworth.

Star Wars counting down. Have tickets for myself and the spawn sorted. They've already got Kylo Ren figures. Isn't it funny how the bad guys are so popular in this series.

I actually think that Hemsworth is quite good as Thor (he was funny in the recent Avengers) but the Thor movies are the boring-est of the Marvel catalogue. So I'm quite looking forward to see what Waititi can do.

Sorted my tickets for Star Wars the other day, weirdly there were still Gold Class seats left on the Thursday - although starting time is 9:30pm so hopefully I don't nod off before the end.

He looks the part without a doubt. Absolutely perfect. But he's a shit actor. Same in Rush. He couldn't even maintain the accent. The difference in ability between him and Daniel Bruehl in that film was ridiculous. Then again, despite his acting skills, Bruehl is hardly ever going to play a convincing superhero 🙂

Watched "Fury" last night. Fucking great war movie. Story? Plot? Pah! fluffybunnies getting their heads blown off? yes, and lots of it.

And saw the Entourage movie on Saturday. It's basically 3 episodes rolled in to one. Ari Gold is a great character, the rest was a bit meh really. But then, i wasn't expecting all that much. The TV show was mindless escapism, there wasn't much for a movie to work with.

Finally having enough of the shit sound from my ageing TV, we bought a Sonos sound system yesterday. Soundbar, sub, and 2 rear speakers. Fucking. Awesome. Fury last night sounded fucking awesome. And so did Episode 1 with the kids (6 Star Wars movies in 6 nights before the new one on Saturday). Not cheap, but worth it.

Scouts guide to a Zombie Apocalypse - bit old school with silly OTT stuff happening, a couple of hot teen girls in skimpy outfits, was a decent watch

Yep the good guys just don't have the goods to match Darths Maul, Sideous, Tyrannus and Vader, Jabba of the Hutts, Boba and Jango of the Fetts, Governer Tarkin and General Grievous. Hopefully this Ren joker has some charisma.....

Good Kill: Ethan Hawke, Betty Draper and Lenny Kravitz's daughter. It's about Air Force drone pilots who live in Las Vegas and fly the drones in Afghanistan from air conditioned huts that are not 'US soil'. Hawke is an ex F16 pilot who really wants to fly again and Kravitz is his co pilot of the drone.

They get seconded to do some CIA missions and Hawke starts having a breakdown.

Pretty good movie, fairly slow and talky, but with some pretty freaky missile explosion shots.

On a flight last week I had about 40 minutes to spare so started watching Inglorious Basterds again. It's a great movie that I had kind of forgotten how good it is. I remembered the opening scene well and the pub scene, but had completely forgotten when Landa and Shoshanna had cake together before organising the showing of the movie. Man that scene was as tense as all the other tense scenes. I think it has overtaken Pulp Fiction as my favourite Tarantino film.

Yeah I re watched that over the weekend too with someone who had never seen it. That pub scene is fucken sensational, I love Stiglitz in that scene but if he hadn't been so focused on totally fucking up the SS guy then him and the other German could have taken the soldiers by surprise and maybe walked out alive. Fassbender ( forgotten his characters name ) knowing his number was up and calmly downing the Scotch was class too. No one gets better performances out of actors than QT.....

I think my favourite scene amongst so many is the facial expressions on Aldo and the boys when Landa comes up and speaks perfect Italian.....just the whole 'We're fucked' demeanour in all three of them is brilliant.

I've only seen it once, and it was at a drive-in, so it was only recently that i thought i had better re-watch it. This has motivated me to find it. I'm sure it's on Netflix

Yeah that is the shizzle. Got a soundbar and sub hooked up to our main TV when we moved in two years ago. Anything involving music and/or will render you sterile from across the house.
