Still, the killing a polar bear story is all kinds of awesome .

Have you ever seen this? I've never found out if it was true or not that he missed out on the part of Woody in cheers and thats what made him lose the plot

Werner Herzog made it and he's nuts too. The movie is almost a black comedy, the book is interesting though. It paints a completely different picture of the loon.
