DreamWorks “Screwed Up”: Why Cult Classic ‘Galaxy Quest’ Wasn’t a Bigger Hit

Twenty years after 'Galaxy Quest' hit theaters, director Dean Parisot and stars Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Justin Long look back at capturing lightning in a bottle, and reveal the apology Jeffrey Katzenberg issued over the film's bungled marketing campaign.

Saw it on the big screen when it was released twice. Was dragged to it the first time; I liked it so much I dragged some friends to see it again. It really is a delightful little film.

"Look around you… can you fashion some sort of rudimentary lathe?" Best line in the movie.

My brothers, sisters-in-law and cousins better not find I was ever on that list...

Movies that have kids that put others in mortal harm has always irritated me. Nice to see one get what was deserved.

@antipodean I know what you mean. I am actually likely to switch to another movie if a child is introduced for tension purposes in a horror or thriller.

Yeah a classic. That article though, "stars Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Justin Long " Justin Long. Not Alan Rickman. FFS.

Started watching the classic 1959 western Warlock. DeForest Kelley, aka Doc McCoy from Star Trek, is one of the main villains. Serious cognitive dissonance!

Just watched it and it's easily the best Star Trek movie I've seen.

@Machpants I don't think they could include Rickman in the interview because he is dead, sadly.....

I realise that 😞 I meant the tag line "starring XYZ" and Rickman is not on that list but Justin Long (best know for being the nerd in Dodgeball) is.....

he's not of the same level as Rcikman or Weaver.

    @Machpants

He has one of the best lines in the movie:

I just wanted to tell you that I thought a lot about what you said.

    It's okay, now listen...

But I want you to know that I'm not a complete brain case, okay? I understand completely that it's just a TV show. I know there's no beryllium sphere...

    Hold it.

    ...no digital conveyor, no ship...

Stop for a second, stop. It's all real.

Oh my God, I knew it. I knew it! I knew it!

Danger Close - about the battle of Long Tan.

To be honest, I started watching this, it was getting late and the dialogue and acting at the start was a bit average, so almost bailed...but stayed and things did get better.

Last hour was pretty intense, can only imagine how those poor buggars felt out there, not sure if the selfish actions of one of the top brass was true, but astounding if it is.

Was odd seeing Ragnar Lothbrook as an Aussie Major...

4 I'm out of ammo out of 5 f#ck that was close, again

Right, I'm 54 minutes into this fucking travesty and the artistic licence they've taken with this to make it "entertaining" is infuriating.
