Plus reasons to be optimistic if you followed domestics with talent like Ferguson , Wheeler and Duffy etc. In retrospect, I guess you could say Bracewell was few years into decline already by then.

Jamieson could work. Only uncapped player I'd have some confidence in if he had to play a test next week. But we'll have to find out if he has something to go with his height.
Ben Sears is most promising bowler out there
Of others - Duffy hasn't progressed. Collapses in his action. Nathan Smith's bowling also isnt where I'd want it to be after 4 year of senior domestics, but he is still promising , especially as his batting is quality.
That's it. Just Sears and Jamieson of players with the talent on any sort of 'curve' I'd be happy with.

Mitchell Santner has been ruled out with illness and is at the hotel. Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls have both missed training with illness in the lead up. They have had a net this morning but neither look well. A call will be made at the tossPhillips is going to debut. Sounds like 2 spinners with Astle and Sommerville.
