It's firing season in the NFL

The Browns, Panthers, and Redskins had already fired their coaches. As noted below, the Browns fired theirs at the final whistle of their final game.

The Browns also fired their GM.
    The Giants fired their coach
The Bears fired nearly all their assistants
The Dolphins fired the OC and O-Line coach.
    The Jaguars fired their coach.

The Redskins already hired ex-Panther coach Rivera.

Great 4th quarter in the Texans v Bills game.

Texans rolling and hit the front. Bills come back on a great drive, in field goal range to tie.

Then the Texans with 2 great defensive plays to force the Bills back 36 yards and get the ball.

Saints are the next big team gone. Cousins finally has a signature win.

Jeez you've got to feel for the Saints. Probably the best team in the NFL over the last three years but cannot catch a break in the play offs.

Last year they got plain hosed. The year before it was that freakish TD that never should have happened. Some pretty bad juju in the Big Easy

Dallas really is the gift that keeps on giving.

Jason Garrett has been told he's out, and they are already interviewing his replacement. And he's basically refusing to accept it.

Saints v Vikings was another great game, but not as good as yesterday's OT game. Still can't believe the Saints are gone though. And to a team led by Kirk Cousins!

DK Metcalf has spent all season proving he's not just an athlete, he can play. Great pickup by Seattle.

    Talking to myself in here...

I am very uneasy with the number of people who are already attempting to dance on New England's grave. Did they watch that game yesterday?

The Patriot's defense held a playoff team to 14 points. Brady wasn't as good as he was 4 years ago, but he still threw well enough to win the game, if he had even halfway decent targets. Their receiver corp is fucking terrible. They jag a tightend, and one high quality receiver target, and it's back on, even with Brady one year older.

@mariner4life That's if Brady returns. Doesn't sound like a done deal at all. A lot of speculation he will play on but elsewhere.

Speaking of QBs in their twilight - what is being overlooked today is that Brees was not that good - turned the ball over twice.

Brees is a fucking gun in the regular season, but something just doesn't quite click come playoff time.

I am hearing that about Brady a lot. I don't know, it might be just his length of service, but i just can't see him in another uniform. Why would the Patriots get rid? They would have to know that either they won't contend next year, in which case it's a rebuild (i am reading they might lose a few on D as well), or they can find someone else better than Brady for next year (unlikely). Re-tooling the offence completely is a huge move.

@mariner4life yeah interesting with Saints - Bridgewater was undefeated as a starter for them in 5 games this year - all the Saints losses came with Brees starting.

As for Brady I tend to agree with you - deep down if I had to bet I'd say he returns on a 1-2 year deal. Apparently they are very high on Stidham their rookie backup QB but that would be a lot of pressure. If Belichick had his way 2 years ago Garoppolo would be the Patriots starting QB and Brady would be gone.

A wildcard team playing in Foxborough with Ryan Tannehill as the starting QB. Holding them to 14 isn't that impressive, especially in a game where points were hard to come by. But most significantly, everyone knew what the Titans were going to do. At their peak the Pats were great at figuring out a way to take away a teams strength but they couldn't today.

Still going to be playoff contenders next year? Sure. But they're in decline at the moment. In reality they're probably a Bill Belicheck retirement away from a total rebuild.

I still think Brady could do a decent job of game management if he had decent receivers and a ground game to help him, a bit like Peyton in Denver
