@Bovidae yeah I guess I should mention it seems like a kind of cross between Tarantino and Banshee.

    THIS - times much.
I'm just in NZ for the summer, but within a week I'd noticed this... the same very small number of ads just being repeated over, and over, and over again. That trivago bitch - often twice in the same ads break.
And Sky - what the fuck? I thought one paid for Sky, so that one could avoid ads. Watching some of those Sky sports channels - there were literally more ads on there than what I've seen on Free-To-Air.
But then - the only time I ever see broadcast TV is when in NZ, staying with friends/family. Perhaps it's just as bad in other countries?

Hate that add too, with much passion! All those stupid Booking.com, Trivago, etc. adds are consistently the worst ads on TV.

It's the same here in Aussie, pay TV. When they first started up Pay TV in Aus with Foxtel and the old but now defunct Optus Vision, initially they had minimal ads, mostly just advertising for their own content.

Now, and yes we have Foxtel, you are inundated with more ads than you get on free to air TV. It's so annoying that you pay through the nose for the content yet continually subjected to annoying ads like the Trivago ad!

@Virgil my mother-in-law is over from the UK and she even commented on that ad...

I like the Trivago girl, but that ad is annoying AF, let alone the absurd frequency of it.

Been watching The Capture, which is a BBC drama centred on a former SOldier acquitted from war crimes with footage on one of the other soldiers body-cams, only to be the centre of a kidnap investigation of his lawyer, with compelling CCTV footage of him in the act, that he claims was fake.

Is pretty decent, moving along at a nice pace, lots of threads, only 6 part series, 2 to go.

It’s more the frequency of them, you spend a couple hours staring at the box ( tv, get your minds out of the gutter) you will see that add at least 6 or 7 times, the fuckers

After taking a couple of years off after watching the first 2 seasons of Justifed, I've binged, watched the rest, and just finished the final (6th season).

Consistently excellent across all series - great writing in terms of both plots and character dialogue. Awesome acting. The two leads Timothy Olpyhant and particularly Walter Goggins are great, but the rest of supporting actors are the best in any series I can recall. The setting of a small town in rural Kentucky, where the mines have closed, and crime and drug abuse are rampant is believable and engrossing, as are the misfit hillbillies/Dixie mafia who inhabit it. Great that they are not afraid to consistently kill off main characters, and introduce new ones.

The series is fun enough that I'll probably rewatch it in a couple of years

@canefan interested to know what the story will be, obviously they missed alot of the books in the movies (Tom Bombadil, Sharky) but is it just a re-telling in a series, or will it just be set in Middle Earth as Saurons power grows and the lives of Aragon, Bilbo etc?

Certainly dont see it having the R16 or whatever rating GOT had.

I think it's going to be set before the making of the rings of power (long before Aragorn and Bilbo).

@Toddy so more in line with the Simarillion time?

Not that I have read it, but it was set prior to the Hobbit I think?

@Kruse same here in the UK, we even have that same ad. They're not shy of throwing up ads even on the proper sky channels.

What really fucken bugs me is how before programs they've started doing ads, then channel logo/intro bit and then it usually goes into the program..but no now they throw in another ad or two.

Yes, but it has been cancelled after 2 seasons, still worth watching those two though.

I'll check it out if Watchmen doesn't get me. Pretty sure it's still on SBS On Demand

@taniwharugby Yeah, I guess the Tv series is pitched to kick off around the ¾ers of the way through the Silmarillion. Maybe around the time when Elronds brother founded Numenor.
